Reviews for Obsession
Darkwind82 chapter 2 . 12/21/2015
What can I say? Great lines again and you know, this story had a good idea that isn't common, weird but interesting I don't like so much the last couple of chapters but this one is impressive.
Darkwind82 chapter 1 . 12/21/2015
Great lines here, It felt natural. at least this chapter is over average, really good. Harley isn't too childish but she doesn't seem suicide neither ( many people use a lack of fear to excess for example she's shouting at him all the time o.O)
h e l l b r o k e chapter 4 . 10/9/2013
This is really interesting:) Please update soon.
RedheadObsession chapter 4 . 11/30/2010

V-Roxie-V chapter 3 . 11/19/2010
Well, it's been awhile but... I found this story again...

I really enjoy it! Please, please, please continue! I know it's been awhile but... -puppy dog eyes- Puh-lease? I say please...
Penguinpaw chapter 4 . 2/12/2010
I like this fanfic. I'm particularly interested in Harley's plan. Are you ever going to update again?
V-Roxie-V chapter 1 . 10/22/2009
Hello again,

Yes...I'm reviewing yet another chapter...before you updated. But, you see, I reread the fic (Too much free time you say? -nods- Yup. ) and I was finally able to put my finger on something that had been bugging me before.

Like, in my last review, I pointed out that I read your Joker and something seemed off about him. This is, all in all, a good piece of fanfiction, but the non-jokery-joker really lowers the quality. Which is sad, since it is written well and has a compelling story - it's just that the Joker, who is one of the most adored characters in this fandom, is, as I mentioned before, off.

But as I said, before I couldn't figure it out. But on this second read-through, I think I managed to scrunch together an opinion. Anyways...

One of the things that jumped out at me in this second run-through is that your Joker is very...quiet. He lets Harley verbally dig into him, and doesn't say a word. In my interpretation of the Joker (which may be wrong. I didn't create the character. ;) ) he seems the type who doesn't shut up. Pop in a copy of the Dark Knight into your DVD player and it is revealed: generally, when he is on screen, he is doing more talking than listening. (The exception of this being when he saw in the holding cell, but it could be argued that he knew he WOULD have a chance to speak to someone soon about the disappearance of Harvey Dent, or that there was no one worth while around him to engage in conversation with, and blah blah blah.) But clearly your Joker finds her worthwhile to speak to since you write that he found her curious - she wasn't frightened of him at all. I think he would like to play with her. To drive my point home, you might be thinking, "read the scene, Roxie. He talks!" Yeah, he does. But it seemed to me more of he spoke when spoken to. What, was he too polite to interrupt? We talking about the same homicidal maniac here?

Next, I'm going to go into when he does speak. It's so...point blank. His comments seemed dry and unimaginative. And cooperative. And again, point-blank. Watch the scene in the movie where Gordon questions The Joker. The Joker doesn't answer a single question, really. Well, rather he doesn't give the answers that Gordon is looking for. D-does that make sense? He answers, but doesn't?

Like...

Gordon: Where is [Harvey Dent]?

Joker: What's the time?

Gordon: What difference does that make?

Joker: Well, depending on the time he may be in one spot or several.

See, he's answering, quite honestly, but isn't.

I dunno, I'm having trouble articulating myself here, but please watch the scene and you'll see what I mean.

Off topic a little, but one line that really bugged me about your Joker came right after Harley asked about his name. He responded, "And make it easy for Gordon to find me? No." ...I...I have trouble picturing the Joker saying that. If that was his motivation then he certainly wouldn't say it out loud. And as soon as she storms in, she orders him not to laugh.

Which brings us to the final point. Where is the LAUGHING? Please, give the Joker some more giggles. He's a giggler. He laughed a few times, but -shrugs- I dunno.

Again, I'm having trouble articulating myself. I do that. -blushes- I just go everywhere in reviews. But...I hope I maybe helped? I mean, I know it's mostly Harley-related, but I'm sure at some point Mr. J is going to come back onto the screen.

And while I'm wrapping things up from my former review, I noticed that I said that I enjoyed how you brought up how many people the Joker killed. And then I didn't elaborate. And the fact that I didn't elaborate is sort of disturbing, as it makes it seem like I just liked how you gave the Joker an impressive tally of deaths. No, no, no. I liked how you actually mentioned the carnage. The widows, orphans. A lot of fanfics write about how Gotham is afraid of him, and he's making everyone reach the breaking point and blah, but they don't really go into the victims. With the number of innocent people slaughter the reader is reminded of why the Joker is a threat. Yes, he breaks minds - a lot of fanfics delve so deeply to that point, which is good, and one of the most entertaining aspects of the Joker so I approve, but he also breaks ...yeah.

Another monster of a review...sorry. Anyways, I hope you update this piece sometime. Again, sorry about both the uber-long review and the fact that I pretty much just go everywhere but...I lack sleep. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Keep up the good work!

Roxie
V-Roxie-V chapter 4 . 8/15/2009
Oh, I really like this fanfic! Yeah, I agree with a certain reviewer before me, the "_"s are irritating - please just either put the swear in or just have more prudent characters because that is a large blemish on an otherwise very engaging piece. Seriously, you are able to wrap me up and place me in your fanfic's world until I see a "_" and am knocked backwards, reminded that I am just reading, and have to break away from the story for a few seconds to figure out just what curse would fit appropriately in there. That is a VERY bad thing.

And also regurgitating what the other reviewer said, I was also thrown a bit when Harley stormed in in the first chapter and started verbally attacking the Joker. It was like "Harley WHO?" I'm all for patching her up so she can fit properly in the Nolan verse but with not a trace of fear or anything it just seemed...weird.

Furthermore that whole scene the Joker seemed...off to me. I can't put my finger on it, but...yeah. Sorry I can't be more helpful on that point. :/

But now that I'm done with the bad points I can go on to the good! Now I hesitated on reading this fiction from the description. I guess when I read "Joker Copycat" I thought... Well, let's just say my Mary Sue senses started tingling and I fled! But now that I've read it I was pleasantly surprised to find that it isn't a Mary Sue at all, just Harley being awesome in a REALLY good story. I like the little details - like how Gordon feels sorry for the Joker. That really touched me, and I think that actually makes this story stand out a little for me. It's interesting seeing Gordon feel something other than pure loathing for the Joker. (or nonsensical love, as illustrated in certain poorly written slash pieces. xD ) And I also sincerely enjoyed how you brought up the men the Joker killed (or was in that the sister fic? Meh. )

Also it is a very creative tale. I really enjoyed it and I hope to see an update soon! (Sorry for the length of this review, I always right mini novels when I'm going on about a story! TEll me if it bugs you and I will refrain in the future!)
K00K chapter 1 . 8/2/2009
Blocking out swears isn't a good idea. If you're going to use swear words then just do it. If you think people are going to feel uncomfortable reading them, just don't use them. In some blank spaces I can't even tell what's supposed to go in there. Yes, indeed it is annoying, but it also makes your work look sloppy and amateur, so everyone loses.

Harley's eyes are blue, by the way, not brown.

It's very unlikely that Harley would just burst in and start ball busting him without a hint of fear. Everyone is afraid of the Joker, if anything especially Harley. Also, why are they having a session at three in the morning in the first place? I highly doubt Harley would drop everything and go into Arkham in the wee hours of the morning just to attempt to save a criminal she's never met before. (Unless you count, apparently, Virginia, which is again very unlikely.)

This looked promising, but I'm sorry to say that I was sorely disappointed. Please take this criticism peacefully and maturely.

Mad Scientist Sidekick chapter 1 . 6/9/2009
Thank you for all the reviews I've gotten so far, I appreciate the feedback. Also, sorry that I forgot to mention this in my author's note already but, just a P.S., the reason Scarecrow isn't in Arkham is he escaped while he was being booked at some point during TDK but everyone was so worried about the Joker it wasn't mentioned.
CarvedKid chapter 2 . 5/24/2009
I really enjoyed this. You have matched the atmosphere perfectly in the same vein as Nolan's world. Please, write more! :)
