Reviews for Snape's Worst Memory
a chapter 58 . 11/2/2019
The story began with Severus's unanswered question, "Will you marry me?" and ended with a wedding and a honeymoon. It also began with James Potter's humiliation of Severus and ended with the promise of him finally being truly punished. So it was a logical place to end the story and a mostly satisfactory ending.

However, in between the beginning and the ending, this huge tangled web of character perspectives and plot lines formed and many of its threads are still waving in the wind. It leaves a lot of unanswered questions. Such as, "What's going to happen when Sirius eventually meets up with Apoline?" or, "Will Severus ever come up with a workable substitution for phoenix tears?" And of course the big question looms over all of the smaller ones, "How will all of this affect the overall future of wizarding Britain and the direction of the war with Voldemort?" It's not the point of the story and it doesn't need to be answered in the story, but one wonders just the same.

On the other hand, the inner dynamics of Sev and Lily's relationship have been explored to the point where you're basically beating a dead horse.

So, if I might be so bold as to send a plot bunny in your direction. I think that if you ever decide to revisit this little alternative universe that you created, you should write the sequel with a major shift in perspective.

I think it might be very interesting to see a story about the wife of Damocles Belby, who happens to work for the Ministry of Magic in the Department of International Magical Cooperation. Naturally, in the current political climate she often must work closely with members of Magical law enforcement, as well as dealing with situations abroad. Such as dealing with citizens of wizarding Britain who have run afoul of foreign laws, or coordinating searches with foreign countries when magical Britain's criminals are suspected to have fled outside the country. And of course it's the duty of any Ministry employee in such tying times to be constantly vigilant against the threat that Deatheaters present domestically and abroad. It's really a stroke of luck that at the end of a trying day she can go home to her sweet, idealistic, brilliant husband and relax... even if she does occasionally bump into his gloomy new apprentice.

I don't know if you've ever had any interest in writing a spy/political thriller/war type of story, but it might be fun if Dumbledore's order fell into useless obscurity while Crouch's special task force of key people across departments got the job done.

I enjoy this story so much. Every time I re-read it, I find different things resonate with me. A real fanfic classic.

I’ve read this story about 3 times
Trying to figure out what is Lily’s issue with everything
And it just hit me
She’s a teenager!
A damn teenager who makes mistakes and rebel’s against everything while experimenting
She’s not a bar person
At worst she’s just ignorant

Guess it's expected the Sirius gets out of this with the least lost. Heck, he's even better off. Guess this world really is for the worst people.

Stina Leffel chapter 58 . 11/8/2018
Really good story! Funny, original and tragic. I hoped for a long time that Lily would grow up, but sadly she grew worse. For Snape's sake, I would have perferred that the baby lived and Lily died. Surely his daughter would have loved him back. The way you have written him, i think he would have made a good father.
I read some of the reviws and was amazed at their rudeness and silliness.
Thank you for writing!

Honestly, I did not want to read about Severus or Lily in this fanfic. Severus' interactions with others was somewhat bearable, but when he's with Lily, I just skip. I skip every time Lily is there. And this chapter is the worst. I can't go any further. Goodbye!

I can't help but feel heavily disappointed. I've been reading this story for a month and I expected it to have a well-rounded ending as it was under 'Complete' as well as a potentially happy ending. But this...this was an abysmal way to end the story. They're worse off than when they started, a semi-motivated marriage, an uncertain degree of love and now this conclusion of grief. If a story isn't complete, even if you wish to discontinue it, don't say it is! I hate stories without an ending and this was just misleading!

This is definitely one of my favorite stories. It is an epic tale with lots of twists, and an unusual but relatively canon-compliant take on Lily. I mean, we really don't see her much, and only hear about how saintly she was after she was dead from the same people who talk about how wonderful James was, when canon clearly shows that he was an entitled asshat stalker all through Hogwarts.

When I first read the ending, it felt very unfinished, but after (several-I really like your Severus!) re-readings, it feels like a an appropriate ending-abrupt and not a total resolution, but yet fitting in a story full of abrupt threads and unresolved issues.
