Wow I'm really sorry to read about Brian's passing Alicia. You've lost a husband (who loves you big time) and we have lost one hell of an author. It's amazing how intelligently succinct he can be in this story. Effectively, and without putting too many gaps, he managed to summarize ff8 (sort of) and still find the space to weave in his own ingenious and creative take and ideas.

I never once felt bored and I read it from start to finish as I thought i would do some light reading before bed. Needless to say, I slept a lot later than anticipated.

The expressiveness used in this fic very aptly captures the burning passion of Squall and Rinoa and personally, I love the characters internal voice that just keeps throwing in those awesome one-liners! I personally love authors who do that as it gives a lot more personality to the characters and is usually a good laugh to boot.

I did not really understand the whole time loop thing and how did Squall realise that it was actually Ellone performing time compression. This is referring to the first time loop ever Squall of course. Oh and did Rinoa get struck down in this first loop? If so then I guess a large part of my questions would answer themselves. Even though I didn't really get it 100% I love this plot device and the frequent visits by Griever. It really added to the whole eternal concept especially when he was talking to Rinoa during her coma. I felt so bad for him then.

Good amount of gore in this one and the romance is not too sappy but sweet and beautiful. That is more than enough for me in terms of the Squinoa aspect. Some fics are too sappy while some are too serious, I really enjoyed this balance you brought even throwing in the more "below-the-belt" comments helped a lot in keeping the interaction real to me.

I hope that if you read this review, that you won't mind my rambling but I just had to do this to pay some tiny form of tribute to an amazing author. Thanks for uploading this and may the wonderful author rest in peace.

Cheers

My word. I was just browsing around, in the mood to see some Squall/Rinoa fics...and then I found this one again. It has been years since I've seen it, and I felt my heart break when I saw that your husband passed away, Alicia. Brian was truly an amazingly talented writer. My heart goes out to you even though, if I'm reading the posting dates of this story correctly, it has been a few years.

Loved your story, especially the ending with the whole truly eternal thing. I really like when authors use their title in the way you did encorparating it as a meaning in the end.

Mugen Kokorozashi chapter 2 . 9/28/2006
i don't mean to sound like a nerd, but...ever heard of a phoenix down for the battle on the train with the fake president? good story, it's a good break from the other, depressing story i'm reading
JayLiyah chapter 16 . 12/26/2005
Wow... this is truly a brilliant and amazing fic. I'll definitely never forget what I've learned from this. It drew me in from the very first paragraph. It was moving, wonderfully written, very insightful and just beautiful. I don't often see too many stories that can bring such emotion and feelings to the surface. One aspect I have to point out - the love scene was perfect.. one of my favorite parts. Characterization was fantastic, I loved that they remained the same only to be changed by each other later, thus growing up through each other.

To Alicia, your husband was truly an inspiration. I'll never forget his parting words and I'll be sure to carry his profound messages with me throughout life. My sincere condolences.. and I hope that we continue to see more stories from him. I thank you Alicia, and I thank Brian as well.

Maybe someday, Brian, Azrieal, all of us here at ffnet who linger on this earth will meet with you in paradise.
"...and it is sung that they met again beyond the Sundering Seas, and after a brief time walking alive once more in the freen woods, together they passed beyong the confines of this world." Aragorn, Lord of the Rings, J.R.R. Tolkien.
Thankyou for all that you have ever written,
Humbly,
Knighted
