Essay33 chapter 1 . 6/19/2010 I just came across this, and it's lovely. I particularly appreciate the way you described Edward's perception of the raindrops. It gives the reader a vital glimpse into how different his mind is, yet how achingly similar his needs are (human or vampire, we all need love and a purpose). Well done! |
Denise Black chapter 1 . 11/13/2009 I love it so much! its phenomenal! |
midnightafterdark chapter 1 . 6/10/2009 very nice |
iremb13 chapter 1 . 4/1/2009 this was so beautifully written. you put out edward's point of view really well. and i loved how he battled himself, starting with "when" and ending with "if". i loved how he corrected himself everytime. him loving her so much that it hurt. this one-shot is simply a well-done :) |

kissesblow chapter 1 . 3/1/2009 okay, so, i've been trying something new in the twilight fandom. rather than simply reading all the fics that seem to get boatloads of reviews, i've been trying to find, read, and review those stories that have just been posted, and aren't recognized nearly as often as they should be. i've just started trying this new thing today. and your story was my first "hidden gem." and OH MY GOD am i glad i read this. i'm going through this line by line, so just . . . bear with me, hahah. "To them the rain wasn’t beautiful. It was something wet. Something cold. Something that was sure to ruin whatever plans they had made that required them to be outside for longer periods of time." i adore how, right from the get-go, you're able to create this magnificent metaphor for edward: he is the rain. he is this man, this cold (maybe sometimes wet!) man, and - being the self-deprecating person that he is - he always believes that it's in bella's best judgement to give him up - he believes he's ruining bella's life by being with her, just as the rain ruins people's days by falling from the sky. already, off onto a great start! "It was comforting to know that at least Charlie had some functional defensive skills." even if, in the real twilight novel, those skills seem to be few and far between! hahah. i mean, honestly charlie - he's a policeman, and he's barely able to get his daughter from being feasted on by her vampire boyfriend. seriously. "Although, at the moment, it was baseball that raced through his mind, a game where he seemed to be the star, and where both Bella and her mom were cheering loudly from the stands. He was fast asleep and dreaming." charlie is always thinking about renee, even in his dreams. this line made me ache so bad. bravo. "“I trust you,” she stated and I groaned. But I don’t trust myself." god, how many times does she say that in the book? poor edward, always having to put off bella's persistence! nice job at keeping both bella and edward in character. bella with her blushing, and edward with his masochism. "My eyes closed in frustration as my hands moved towards my belt buckle." is it strange that i found this line nearly erotic? man! edward, eyes closed, hands on buckle. maybe i'm losing it . . . or maybe i just need to find myself my own edward. hahah. "Nothing made sense without her." and this is where i applaud you for your magnificence at conveying edward without making him sound like a lovesick, prepubescent teenager - and also without making him sound emo. it's funny, he almost straddles that line. but you caught him - and you walk the line with him, recording his every move, perfecting his every thought. it's brilliant. "Always if." the perfect ending to the perfect, beautiful little oneshot. thank you for this. it was wonderful. |
