I just got to read this story. One word..amazing. I cried. First out of sadness and anger, and again out of sheer joy. You are a great writer. I wish i was half the writer that you are.

BTW, I noticed your homage to the series Emergency, in the names of the doctors-Chris Desoto was the name of Roy Desoto's son, I believe, and his wife was Joanne-you combined their names for Dr Joanne Roy. (I love it when you do that, although how nerdy am I for noticing?).

I just read this and "The Worst That Can Happen". I liked this one better (the other one spent too much time summarizing the movie - which I just watched again last weekend. And reviewed on LJs). Anyway - I liked this better. Poor Jeff - how awful. Yep, you had me going in the first one, I thought Alan was a goner. I also really liked Alan's conversation with John - that he needed his *own* space. So true - especially in a high flying family (both literally and in the career sense) like the Tracys.

A couple of things - Gordon's Olympic medal was in *swimming* not track. And his accident, at least in the series, was a hydrofoil accident which killed his career in the "World Aquanaut Safety Patrol" (from *Stingray*).

Also - PLEASE, don't use so many silly nicknames. In the series, the only one EVER used was Scott calling Virgil "Virg", which I always took to be a measure of the closeness of those two. In the movie, the older Tracys called Alan "Sprout" - but that was kinda' a kiddie name, it sorta' works but not really. However that other ones sound silly and are just awful: "Scooter", "Gords", etc.

Still - you wrote Jeff REALLY well here, I particularly liked the scene in his office where he's thinking horrible thoughts ("Are they dead?") - yet snapping off orders to the rest of the boys - yep, that's Jeff alright.

Oh, I think you've got Jeff's wife's name wrong too - it's Lucille or Lucy in a lot of fanfic, and it's never mentioned in the series, but I swear, when I was watching the movie last weekend they actually mentioned her name and I was surprised at what it was. (I think the Hood taunts Jeff with it), but now I can't remember the name.

Anyway, overall, I liked - except the nicknames, and the song quote (I don't like songfics - love music vids but don't have the patience for songfics).

But god poor Jeff...I felt sort of bad that Scott had to stay calm for him instead of grieving as much too, but I can understand why. The boys would be there to help each other anyway...At least it was all a dream. At least, until I get a hold of it. ;)

Totally fantastic Ali! I loved seeing things from Jeff's point of view and isn't it something how both John and Jeff had the same dream...makes you wonder if Lucy sent it to them both hoping that one or the other would be able to keep her youngest from being killed.

I have to tell you that I LOVED the CHP officer's name LOL! And I also have to tell you that you had me in tears as Iread this one even though I knew it was a dream aslo this second time around. You wrote Jeff and Scott's reaction to finding out about Alan so heartbreakingly real that I couldn't supress the tears!

oh now that was interesting, to see it from the other side. sad though, cause they lost their baby, but it was ok in the end.
