Clare chapter 15 . 5/13 A fab fic! Especially loved how you wrote the inner workings of the Captain's mind and in fact, all of the characterisations are spot on :) Hope you return with more som stories in the future. |
Sybilar chapter 15 . 2/27 Oh how I wish there’s more to this...but still, it’s a beautiful story ️ |
Donk10617 chapter 15 . 12/20/2018 omg omg omg more pleeeeeaase! (even though it's been over five years since the last update hehe) :) |
mariavtrapp chapter 15 . 8/19/2018 This story is perfection. |
bloomandgrow chapter 15 . 5/2/2018 Well this was a labour of love to re-read this story and review it as I should have done a few years ago when I first came across it. It was one of the first I came across in this fandom and it drew me right in, with it's wonderful re-telling of TSOM through Georg's perspective. I have read it so many times since and each time I discover some new little gem in your writing. It has brought me so much joy, so I can only give you my heart felt thanks in return. |
bloomandgrow chapter 14 . 5/2/2018 This chapter was a slice of joy: the birth of a new family, in the setting of an iconic TSOM moment: a picnic. It made me smile from ear to ear. Delightful. |
bloomandgrow chapter 13 . 5/2/2018 I melted into a big puddle of happiness over Georg's thoughts in the proposal scene. So beautifully done. And then his final goodbyes to Agathe was so touching. It made me feel quite weepy. |
bloomandgrow chapter 12 . 5/2/2018 Oh I loved this little back scene leading to the blue strawberries scene. Such a sweet scene with the children trying and failing miserably to deceive their father. I loved that line about how proud he was that they were such terrible liars. How true! Georg's untrammelled joy at Maria's return was delightful, and then his epiphany that he loved her - oh my, how delicious that was. What I also adore is that you give Georg so much integrity and honour - he is not carrying on with Maria behind Elsa's back. In fact he refuses to treat Elsa shabbily by even looking at Maria, even though he knows he loves Maria. That is definitely my kind of Georg. I think this is my favourite chapter out of all your gorgeous chapters. |
bloomandgrow chapter 11 . 5/1/2018 Oh the proposal to Elsa was painful to read, because like you I did not want him to talk himself into it. At least he did not lie and tell her he loved her. His thoughts as the he tells the children about their new mother was really well done, as he continually trying to convince himself he is doing the right thing. I agree with you Georg's behaviour in this scene is inexplicable but you did a great job of trying to decipher it. |
bloomandgrow chapter 10 . 5/1/2018 My heart broke into tiny pieces over the children's reaction to Maria leaving so abruptly. it was so heart breaking. And Georg feeling so bereft too, was also beautifully written. I loved how he comforted Gretl and Marta. And I loved his vow never to go back to the father he had been; that was the gift the Maria had given them all. The whole chapter was heart wrenching. |
bloomandgrow chapter 9 . 5/1/2018 Fascinating chapter. I loved Georg's thoughts through the pivotal scenes from the party. I liked how you introduced a new character: Karl, who shows the dilemma many Austrians were facing at that time - whether to compromise their beliefs and join the Nazis for the sake of their families or be like Georg and refuse to compromise. I like how you show Georg's honour and integrity and his refusal to compromise his principles by joining them. The Laendler was beautifully done. Georg is so enraptured by Maria. What is interesting for me was how you interpreted the "You can if you want to Fraulein" scene. to me he seemed cavalier towards Maria - pretending indifference to cover his guilt for his feelings; but you interpretation is that he was actually being kind to Maria. That is what I love about this fandom - we can all have different perspectives and insights about the scenes, and it is wonderful. It's interesting how by the end of the chapter, Georg is trying to talk himself into marrying Elsa, yet he has been thoroughly obsessed with Maria. |
bloomandgrow chapter 8 . 4/30/2018 Another delicious chapter, with the Captain enjoying a special interlude with his children before the ball. You are giving us so many wonderful scenes that fill in the gaps in the film, and they all fit perfectly. I love who he is comparing Elsa's sophistication against Maria's natural beauty and realising which one he prefers. |
bloomandgrow chapter 7 . 4/30/2018 I love the poignant touching moments as Maria helps the Captain heal from his grief over Agathe. I also enjoyed Maria's insight and wisdom when discussing the Anschluss. On so many levels it is becoming obvious that Maria is his soulmate. |
bloomandgrow chapter 6 . 4/30/2018 Oh my, this story is packed full of the most delightful, precious moments. I absolutely loved timid shy little Marta pushing her father out the door and then being so brave when she was hurt by the skipping rope. I am also glad that Georg feels guilty about his cavalier treatment of Elsa and that he is acknowledging how unfair he is being to her by focusing so much on Maria. It shows he has honour and integrity. Perfect characterisations of everyone. |
bloomandgrow chapter 5 . 4/30/2018 Ah, there's so much to love about this story. Loved this chapter with the heightened awareness the Captain and Maria have for each other; how the captain is struggling with his feelings and feeling guilty about Elsa, but he can't stop himself thinking about Maria. The pillow fight was adorable. no wonder the more he sees of Maria the more deeply he is falling for her. Wonderful. |
