Reviews for Kissing Down the Ashes
fiesa chapter 1 . 1/23/2010
Oh, wow...

I wish this episode really had ended like that! Why is it that in TV shows the people who belong together never actually get together? While thats quite annoying, it leaves a lot of space for fan fiction, so I wont complain too much... Just a little bit

Of all Peters Ive found in your stories, I like this one best. Maybe because hes being honest, even with himself. And with Olivia, this time, too... The image of his different faces paced away in boxes in his closet is sad. But its a nice image and picturing Olivia sitting in the middle of them is fun... Thats why I like this sentence best!

"It’s difficult to fake emotions when she’s sitting calmly among them. Rather, she’s drawing them out before his better sense can clamp down on the escapee that is his grin."

And, of course, the last one A really good story, once again...

And now Im returning to my homework, I fear its time to continue... Have a nice evening! Ah, time shift. Okay, have a nice weekend! Whatever time it is where you are right now
piratesmiley chapter 1 . 2/17/2009
THIS IS AMAZING! (geez, I need new adjectives.)

This is a signature piece for you-beautiful metaphor and concept, excellent vocabulary, perfect beginning and ending.

I'm jealous of your skills. In a major way. :)
angeliliez chapter 1 . 2/17/2009
My Goodness...

"His traitorous mouth sends a troop of statements that he must swiftly order into retreat. By her hand, unbidden honesty forces its way onto his face. Truth is every bit the parasite he believed it to be and yet the naked skin suits him. She can see it, he knows this. He can cover, but never well. When the liar cannot lie, what is left?"

Such a pleasure to read your work... Where did you learn to write? Such TALENT! "Truth is every bit the parasite he believed it to be..." So eloquent, so Peter, and so perfectly done!
Beaglicious chapter 1 . 2/14/2009
Lovely! Absolutely lovely! The writing style was incredible. I love the idea of an innocent Liv digging through Peter's walls!
dream-of-belief chapter 1 . 2/7/2009
There are no words to describe how amazing this is. It is indescribably wonderful. I don't think anyone has ever gotten a better look into Peter's brain before. Again, I don't even know what to say to describe how wonderful I thought this was. Amazing story; keep it up.
Swamp Fairy chapter 1 . 1/29/2009
i liked the idea, and i thought the second half was amazing. but some of the paragraphs confused me. i thought the 'box of faces' was good, but overall, it was a little too deep for peter. but though you can't tell from my heartless review, i really liked it.
Alamo Girl chapter 1 . 1/27/2009
Sometimes, not often, I get so caught up in the lyrical flow of your beautiful language, that I almost miss little gems like:

"She doesn’t recognize that he’s trying to burn the caring out of himself. The struck match is poised over his internal powder keg but the breeze of her smile blows out the flame."

This is utterly brilliant in conveying that try as he might, just when he thinks he's got his bases covered and his emotions hidden under his sarcasm, Liv does something that blows away all his locks and barriers and he has to start over.

"Uninvited, this woman skips past the guard, breaks the lock and slides effortlessly into the playground of his mind, stirring his latent streaks of protection and nurturing and a million other things for which he hasn’t obtained a sufficient mask. "

I love this too, because she *has* stirred this change from 'every man for himself' in him, awakening this protection and nurturing, that God knows when the last time Peter has felt that and let it show.

Lovely, my dear.
La Flamingo chapter 1 . 1/23/2009
Hey, did you know what?

You're pretty damn awesome.

No doubt, you've probably heard this before. Will hear it again and again as Fringe fangirls the world over come over here and squee their hearts out.

This metaphor, this extended box within a box within a box - it's fucking fantastic. So fantastic it deserves profanity praise everywhere it goes. Just - wow. What a beautiful and spooky image. And so vivid.

Yeah. Well, I'm impressed. So awesome. Please keep writing, for you rock.

Cheers,

~LF
JT4Life chapter 1 . 1/23/2009
That was the longest (but in a good way) and most extensive metaphor i've ever read! wow, that was amazing! the metaphor was perfect, especially because it applied to them both, in one way or another.

:)
crazylittleelf chapter 1 . 1/23/2009
That was incredibly beautiful. I'm at a loss for words. Loved it.
noturgurl chapter 1 . 1/23/2009
Absolutely poetic. I loved every word. Peter's character intrigues me to no end and I love how you wrote him.
wjobsessed chapter 1 . 1/23/2009
Wow. Reviewing this at all seems like a futile understatement.

There are so many beautiful metaphors here I couldn't even begin to tease them apart and review them.

"She can see it, he knows this. He can cover, but never well. When the liar cannot lie, what is left?" Peter and Achilles are buds now.

"And in her return of his accidental sentiment, he sees an offer to view her unobstructed emotions." Yeah, that was fun! Her wide eyes, her slight but noticeable disequilibrium, her subtle shortness of breath, and her uneven speech. Very fun.

This fic is a true gem. Thanks for sharing it.
Ocein chapter 1 . 1/23/2009
That was extremely powerful. I loved the overextending metaphor. Yes, they are alike aren't they? As we have seen, I believe Peter is the first one to melt. Now, we just have to wait for Olivia. Or, you could make up for it and write it :)
Denouement Intrusion chapter 1 . 1/22/2009
Lovely as always. You have SUCH a gift for imagery. Poor Peter - he's so scared to care, isn't he? Breaking such lifelong habits is hard and scary. DOes he see that she can find the way to his heart because it's a mirror of the path to her own?

The last line is just so perfect - that and the title combine to such a vivid image! Got to catch up on watching this series!

I just love your way with titles - you can creat such imagery with them - I'm envious because I'm not good at that at all...

Such a lovely start to the New year, all these exquisite pieces...
