That line, for me, especially captured the nature of their relationship. I also like the touch of how uncertain they are around each other, Derek carefully cracking jokes and Sarah's careful observations. I really like the idea of Derek cleaning firstly to poke through everyone's rooms, and secondly because he was bored out of his mind. Also, if anyone has PTSD, it's Derek Reese.

I especially like the distinction you made between the brother's eyes. Wonderful one-shot.

Intriguing as hell. Especially in light of recent episodes that have revealed more about Derek's background and character. Could you write a follow-up?

Great short story. I really like the way the author has taken what we consider an everyday task (doing the laundry) and wearing a piece of clothing (something few people see us wearing and can expose one's tastes and personality) to tell us so much of life in a possible dark future during a war as well as expose two characters to one another. Many people take both things (clean cloths, brand names, luxury items, etc.) for grated, but during dark times things like that are luxuries. It's all in the details. I am looking forward to reading more of Nyah's work.

Om Mani Padme Hum indeed! I always figured Derek would walk into Sarah's bedroom to try on her bras and panties while she was not looking (and that was the rel reason she didn't want him near her bedroom...) BUT for him to have the "guile" to check Sarah's underwear *while she is still wearing them* AND get away with it...it simply...Blew me away!
