Okay. So. My first chapter review of this fic.

WOW. WOW WOW WOW WOW. (I also just want to say, since this is far in the future this could 100% be canon. I know I've definitely said that before, but reading this as if I'm watching a scene from a franchise movie is...something else.)

Like...I don't even know where to start. So heartbreaking, and so real. I've often toyed with the idea of having them have another/more kids, but then it just seems like 3 is enough. And I appreciate how Shrek isn't keen on having more (but would probably give in for her) - just very in-character. (I tried writing something based off that awhile back, where they go back and forth about why to/not to, and I had Shrek say something to the effect of "do you want to miss the triplets' childhoods cuz of another baby?" and had Fiona be pretty upset by that remark.)

The way you portray her humanness vs. ogreness with the mirror is amazing, how you turn her previous hatred of her ogre self on its head. The fragility of human form vs. ogre. And just the DETAIL - I am such a slut for details. The logistics of human Fiona literally not able to withstand the swamp (because she's 100% human as opposed to before - GENIUS), even Shrek's thought process considering childbearing, without it being "weird".

I think the most remarkable part is that this chapter initially has the reader fully believing Fiona is now human, permanently, with no way around it. The stark finality of it all. Until of course they think to find another spell, but considering their luck with magic so far in this story, it's obviously not an instant solution.

Just. GOD. So excellent.

I binged the entire thing on the gym...and realized I'd been walking on the treadmill for 2.5 hours. haha

I will formulate more coherent thoughts and hopefully individual reviews later. I just plowed through, I don't even think I read all the A/N's.

But. FUUUUUUCK. So. Fucking. Stunning.

While I wasn't as invested in Shrek as I was Artie's side of the story, this was a brilliant conclusion. With all of the familial flashbacks and backstory prior, I was glad to see that the tension between Shrek and his dad wasn't resolved, but dealt with realistically. This was definitely the best of the Shrek chapters and one of my favorites.

I really liked the story overall. While I wasn't personally that into the chapters focused on Shrek and his kids, their interactions with human Fiona were interesting, Shrek's backstory is very compelling, and I loved Artie's story.

I wasn't sure how I'd feel about Felix as an OC, but he was very memorable and used well.

8/10, I thoroughly enjoyed it, despite the parts I didn't care for.

I think this chapter is a little muddled, but I adore all of the relationship shenanigans between Artie, Abbey & Elena.

This was a really good chapter for Felix. It's a great moment for him despite his tragic end. Absolutely one of the best chapters of the story.

Another compelling flashback to Shrek's past. I really like Felix here, he's a great original character.

I generally found Shrek's part of the story a little lackluster, but I really enjoyed these flashbacks to his tragic past.

This was the chapter that hooked me on this story. Artie's story and interactions with Elena & another character are the most compelling part of the story. Super cute and awkward.

Shrek & Fiona's kids' names are Farkle, Fungus, & Felicia.

Loved it! True to the characters. And I had a feeling you'd bring Bulvan back. I kind of liked how their meeting didn't end all perfect, keeping in the same vein as the movies with that hint of awkwardness. Can't wait for the epilogue!

Nice! Shrek's dad was a great touch.
