I have to add to what Digory says, that when Xerxes was told by Esther that it was HER people Haman had wanted exterminated,he IMMEDIATELY:

Haman's execution.

the Jews permission to defend themselves
on the day appointed to be the day of their slaughter!

Xerxes OBVIOUSLY began to care about Esther as a person at some point or he would have just reminded her that Persian/Median law was irreversible.

I think this is the best Polly/Digory fic I've ever read. You are quite a talented writer to think of combining the story of Esther and fitting it into Polly and Digory's lives. Please never stop writing. Soli Deo Gloria

Actually, we do know how Esther felt about being Xerxes's queen. Chapter 14, verses 15 to 18: "Thou knowest all things, O Lord; Thou knowest that I hate the glory of the unrighteous, and abhor the bed of the uncircumcised, and of all the heathen. Thou knowest my necessity: for I abhor the sign of my high estate, which is upon mine head in the days wherein I shew myself, and that I abhor it as a menstruous rag, and that I wear it not when I am private by myself... Neither hath Thy handmaid any joy since the day that I was brought hither to this present, but in Thee, O Lord God of Abraham." I know that rather messes up your story, but I thought I ought to point it out.

I love this. I could totally identify with Polly. I've done church plays and it's daunting playing a character you don't know much about, especially a Biblical character, especially when the romantic interest is played by someone that you admire in real life. I wish I had a Digory to reassure me :)

I love the story of Esther and King Xerxes. And I agree with Digory-I believe they were happy together, otherwise why would he have spared her life with extending the sceptre towards her?

This was very cute, as always. "Or how to feel towards you, I mean King Xerxes." I do love your Polly. I think she's adorable, and it seems absolutely canon for her to look at the ground every time she and Digory have a scene.

Digory doesn't seem quite boyish enough for my liking-he is very understanding towards Polly, which he isn't really in the books. (He was the original blunderer-Eustace followed in his footsteps XD). However, that doesn't stop me loving him immensely.

Yay! This was so cute. Esther is my favorite Bible story, and this is my favorite book series, so wonderful connection. Yay.
