Perfect I'd say. Just about the right amount sweet and sour, dark and light, and nicely paced. Very enjoyable read.

Silly doesn't mean not enjoyable. It was a fun fic! Liked the interaction and the way the conversation is fun then serious then fun, etc. Liked the sharing of personal stuff. Liked how you incorporated what we know of Joe and added more about his personality, especially the nightstick crack! I didn't think it was too silly, probably because my husband - very stoic at all times - can be VERY silly around me and our kids.

Enjoyable story with an unusual mix of humour and pathos. I loved the 'easy hot stuff' when he was up on the ladder painting (great setting BTW). I also liked that his trying to read her was like 'fishing in an empty pond'. Finally, the ring scene was to die for. A great short story. Thank you!

that was terrific! bobby is so sweet and vulnerable and tentative and cute and honest as he blurts out his thoughts and feelings and then tries to cover them with humor. and he's trying so hard so build better habits. absolutely wonderful! i would love to read more like this one.
