I have to agree in Energon the Starscream that was remade was just a husk, an empty shell. I don't really like it and I like Cybertron Japanese show version even less as they took all that made Starscream in this a hero in the end, killed it, brought back an empty shell, and filled it with Unicron's evil that lingered beyond the grave and that is it.
To put it bluntly Armada had the best Starscream verson no ands ifs or buts about it.
Much like how Megatron in Prime is much better than his other counterparts as he has a real backstory and reason for his fall to evil as a former gladiator who has seen the worst treatment at the bottom of a cast system put in to place at the time. Sure he is still evil but it is the why that makes him the best character.

So sad, so beautiful. I actually cried after reading this fic. The emotions depicted here were so strong, so intense... I couldn't help but shed some tears for these characters, even though I've only watched some episodes of Armada and I know nothing about Energon. Wonderful job.

i have no idea if the names right but this was a beautifully written piece of work. I thank you for reminding me that some people show only facets of themselves and that all opinions are formed via those few facets that others see and not the whole of who and what they are

A beautiful, melancholy story you have written here. For as long as I've been into Transformers (which is not even a year by this point), I've always thought that Starscream and Alexis loved each other. Including Swindle and Sureshock was a nice add to the story too. And a note to the comic book version of Armada: I'm pissed that they made Starscream an almost complete carbon-copy of his G1 self and didn't elaborate on his relationship with Alexis! And then they added that brief crap of Rad and Alexis in the Energon comic... No offense to you of course, since this is a partial Starscream/Alexis fanfic. Ah well, hopefully IDW or some other comic book company might take up the Armada universe and elaborate on Starscream and Alexis' relationship. They do it all the time with G1, so why not Armada?

To answer your question about the Starscream in Energon, it all has to do with the English from Japanese translation. In the Japanese version Starscream is not called by his name. He's called Nightscream. While he was created from a piece of Starscream's spark, his personality and even the spark's signal has changed. Why they kept the name Starscream in the english version is, I guess, just to confuse us.

Love how you put Swindle in this tribute. He did lose his partner during the Unicron battles.

I heard this from somewhere before, and you can look it up if you want to verify it, but apparently the reason there was no nod to Starscream's sacrifice in Armada during the Energon series was because Starscream's name was actually turned into Nightscream, but it got screwed up in translation in the episodes. Not only was the name changed when Alpha Q remade him, but also his frequencies and such, so that no one would be able to recognize him. Megatron ended up recognizing him, of course, which was why he called him Starscream a few times - probably because of his whole connection to Unicron and whatnot. If you remember, in the episode The Legend of Rodimus, when Star tries to assassinate Megs, Megatron calls him 'Starscream' and Star yells at him not to call him that, which sounded really weird to me, since that was his name and all, until I found this whole explanation somewhere. Then it finally all clicked - after all, he thought his name was Nightscream now, not Starscream, right? Anywho, just thought I'd share that with you. Kudos to your story, I loved seeing something from Swindle's point of view!

Oh... I didn't see Energon. Because I don't like Energon Starscream. I can't endure the sight!

I remember crying when Starscream died that was a long time ago. Also I have to agree, from what I saw of energon I thought it was really weird that 1) No one even hinted at him being a hero. 2) That Alexis didn't even seem to care. WTF mate ...they had like some sort of a thing going on. Oh well, I love your perspective you used very different that it's from one of the mini -cons. Great job and I hope to see more from you.
