Reviews for What Might Have Been
dwjx chapter 11 . 10/28/2018
so first of all, this was awesome. when I first came across this story I was skeptical? not sure if that’s the right word. I think maybe because I don’t really watch csi miami and have never read miami fics before so wasn’t sure how I’d personally find the read. although as soon as I started reading, I loved it. I think it’s really good how it was a pretty realistic representation of what could have happened. I really enjoyed reading Lindsay become apart of a new ‘family’ whilst never truly leaving the New York guys behind. I liked that you didn’t just have her leave Miami as soon as she saw danny again and found out what happened to him and it took them both moving on to realise they wanted to be with each other again. I’ve read some of your other stories which I enjoyed also, but this is one of my favourite multi chapter fics.

Wow. This has got to be one of the best D/L stories that I've read in a long time. I was hooked from the very beginning. The story flowed beautifully and was exceptionally well written. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of your stories.

Well, 11 chapters later here I am. I promised myself that I was going to read this once a day and spread it out so that I had something to look forward to...yeah, it didn't work out too well for me. This was perfection. I literally... I can't even begin to describe my adoration for this story. It was perfect.

I just, I've been entralled for the past 4 hours. I'm not even joking. I've been totally lost in this world that you've created. It was amazing. You created such a vivid image that I felt I was watching some kind of film. And your interpretation of Danny and Lindsay's relationship was just... Beautiful. There is literally not one fault I could offer up from this story.

I must admit I was like 'NOOOO!' When Lindsay decided against being with Danny, but my goodness, I'm glad I waited it out and went with your flow, because you definitely had something hidden up your sleeve! What a perfect reunion. There's nothing more I can say to describe it other than 'perfect'.

I adored Lindsay in this. I'm a terrible reviewer for Hold Me Now, but I read that avidly - like as in drop everything that I'm doing when you update - and this version of strong Lindsay is what I hope that Hold Me Now Lindsay can eventually find for herself. Pretty sure you won't let me down though ;)

Danny in this was quite remarkable. He's grown quite a lot to say but the very least, right? I think you did wonders with his character.

Just for the record, I'm writing my review on my phone; that's how much I adored this story. As soon as I got to the last line of the last chapter (which I'm saddened about finishing) I was like - screw this, need to review right this second.

I really feel very strongly that this story is going to stay with me for a good while. There was just something about it that clicked with me and I just...wow. I definitely will be coming back regularly to re-read I think.

You are such a beautiful writer and tell a wonderful story. Thank you for this! I thoroughly enjoyed every word.

Great story!
afrozenheart412 chapter 11 . 5/16/2010
Is the only thing Don can lift is a beer without complaining? :D You have him down pat in here! I think this is payback for all of the teasing when she first came aboard not to mention when she hooked up with Danny. LOL, too bad Danny is so observant with the throw pillows but I adored the moment. You don’t know how much it makes me happy to see them flirting and touching once again. Really? Stella filled two closets with her clothes? Wow, that is a lot. Overall what I love about this chapter is how Lindsay is relaxing and going where their relationship will lead them and Danny being a little bit more serious in regard to her. While everyone does enjoy romantic nights out, you were totally right in wanting Lindsay to have her best friend back. That is the place where they started and it would be a shame to lose that.

I’m so happy that Maya is no longer in danger, not just because she moved away but because no one deserves that kind of fear. No one. The will talk to each other like they used to only better this time because they know where keeping secrets leads to now. But she needed to prove something to herself, like Danny does occasionally. Why in the WORLD would he get rid of the pool table? That would be like burning a photo album, the pool table has so many good memories to it. And I just want to Gibbs smack Don with his predictions. Lindsay doesn’t want to make over Danny, she just wants to fit into his life that’s all. The ending has to be my favorite, because of the thought and love put into this gift for the both of them to show how they are so different yet perfect when together. This was a bumpy yet fantastic ride through sadness to recovery to rediscovered love and acceptance. Thank you for this. I can’t wait to see your next story! More angsty than this? Wow, bring it on! :)

“You were one of those kids who constantly asked 'are we there yet' on long car journeys, weren't you?" Lindsay commented dryly. Flack's only response was to grin beatifically up at her from his prone position on the floor”

“Flack was right; he was going to marry her. Maybe not right here, right now, but when they were ready, he'd be reaching out with both hands towards the image that would be etched in his heart and mind forever. The powerful image of woman and child. His woman and someone else's child at the moment, but, in time, his woman and his child; his wife and their baby. Strangely, it was a picture that no longer scared him, instead he found himself eagerly looking forward to the day when it finally became a reality.”

“Some four and a half years ago, she'd fallen hopelessly in love with her best friend and it had been a lesson in both happiness and heartache for her. They'd come a long way since then and sometimes she was genuinely amazed that they'd made it this far. They'd had so much stacked against them at times, but love had won out in the end. Neither of them had been able to let go, despite the time they'd spent apart, and now, here they were, ready and willing to move things onto the next level. After that, well, who knew? But she was no longer concerned about it. What will be would be, and she would follow wherever fate chose to lead them from now on.”

“She turned her head and pressed a heartfelt kiss to his lips and then glanced up at the wall above the bed. "It matches," she said.

He nodded, looking up at the framed photograph hanging there – a similarly nostalgic study taken in Central Park with the city's skyscrapers providing a unique, silvery back-drop to the warmer hues of nature beneath. "That was the general idea."

"So where are we going to put it?" she asked.

"Up there," Danny said. "There's enough room. It's our bedroom now not mine. This photo was meant to reflect that."

Lindsay smiled, the tears glistening on her cheeks in the golden lamplight. "I never knew you had such a romantic soul," she teased. "You're ruining your play-boy reputation, you know."

"I think that got shot to pieces a long time ago," he told her wryly.”

“The very next morning, Lindsay directed proceedings while Danny fixed the two pictures side by side on the wall. When he was done, he hopped down from the bed and came towards her.

"Looks pretty good, huh?" he said as he wrapped his arms around her from behind and rested his chin on her shoulder.

Laying her hands over his, Lindsay leant back into his embrace. Contemplating the two uniquely different and yet strangely harmonious photographs in front of her, she knew that, at long last, she'd finally found home.

"Yeah," she agreed softly, "Like two halves of the same whole."

"Just the right combination," Danny murmured, his lips nuzzling intimately at her temple. "Like us."

"Like us," she concurred and then lifted her face to accept his offered kiss…”

madhatterette chapter 11 . 5/15/2010
This is going on my favourites list! I'm sad to see it end but I guess everythign has its ending. I love the way you've taken a mature approach over the issues at hand - it isn't easy to go through what the two characters went through ans sometimes it takes a while to find your way. I'm looking forward to your new story!
WuHaoNi chapter 10 . 5/10/2010
Oh, good! I was hoping for some more to the Steven plotline. I thought it would've been a shame if you had just left him hanging. I always thought his jealousy would transmit itself into stalking Lindsay. Yay for protective!Danny and strong!Lindsay. ;)
