I gotta say, the idea that being a young, innocent teenager who thinks that sex is always a commitment...makes you *entitled*...is pretty sick. It's an extremely self-serving idea on Lily's part. It's not entitlement, it's just plain naivete. Of course.

Hey, I too as a young innocent teenager once had what she thought was good-bye (OK, actually just making out, we were 17) and I thought was make-up (making out)...the difference is, she is a decent person. So as soon as she realized the misunderstanding, she said, "I'm so sorry."

And we moved on.

This Lily is just reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally, disgustingly self-serving. What an asshole. Do you really think canon Lily is *this* awful? *Really*?

Also. You don't have sex with someone for the first time as goodbye sex. That's just insane. I mean, it's really, really, *obviously* and *extremely* likely to lead to this sort of misunderstanding. It's one thing to have goodbye sex during an actual break-up; a last hurrah is understandable. But *creating* a sexual relationship that *you never had with this person before*, *just to have goodbye sex*? *Of course* they're going to think it's more! Because *nobody does that*! What the hell, Lily!

Like I said. Do you *really* think canon Lily was *this* bad?

Canon Lily might possibly have done this, maybe, but afterward... She doesn't need to be informing him what his feelings "would have" been, she needs to be apologizing.

Thank you for writing this. It was so real I lost my breath while reading it. I wish, I could only hope that they had some sort of physical connection before she married James. I cried for his loss and love of Lily in Rowling's narrative and I cry for him in fanfiction. He deserves happiness and better.

Snape and Lily's relationship is so sweet and tragic. Wow, just, wow.

Very angsty, but a good story, one of the better ones about these two. I like the way Lilly's able to find balance between her love and lust for Severus and her love for James. I like the way she's able to see that James is truly meant for her but that she'll always have a special place in her heart for Sev and that they did get to finally consummate their feelings for each other, even though for her it was good-bye sex. I do feel badly for Sev, though, as he thought she was reconsidering coming back to him for good. Overall, you did well giving them closure and making their new paths more definite.

Can't blame Lily for being unable to resist checking him out ... but oh, poor Severus! My sympathy is always with Snape as far as Lily is concerned. His singular intensity and her mixed messages seem totally in character. Your story is both beautiful and heart-breaking. Glad I found it! :-)

I just read The Last Homecoming, and I must say, I really like it. This is the first Lily fanfic that I read since DH and you actually made me like her (and I did really like her pre-DH)!

The exchange here is (as already said by ensnarryed) bittersweet... and you managed to have their own (for me, perfect) 'ending' with only a short story. Far, far better than the one we saw in TPT. Now, Lily here seems to be a bit better than what was shown to us in canon (especially in TPT) and a far more convincing and likeable character for me than the canting, nagging and unconcerned 'best friend' we saw in TPT... and definitely not like the Saint! Lily that most people insist she was in forums and in fanfic (IMHO, she was far from being a saint and was very flawed- sorry if you happen to be a Lily fan). And the younger Severus was so in character, too.

Saw this pimped over at Snapedom (by you I think). I'm glad you did. This was...well, it was... See, you've left me speechless.

It was very raw, and there was an honesty to it that I really appreciated. Your portrayal of Severus at this age was very, very well done, and I like your Lily very much.

I loved it! Why haven’t I found this story before? So many great lines in this story that I just can’t name them all. Stories like this make canon more powerful for me. And I do see this story as canon compliant. Thank you for writing this. And I rec at TNL.

This was the singlemost amazing oneshot. You captured Lily and Snape in a way that didn't make it seem written by a fan. It was like Rowling herself, and you did a brilliant, brilliant, BRILLIANT Severus.
