It was Pocket Books/Simon & Schuster/Gulf Western that printed several dozen non-canon but otherwise authorized ST:TOS (& a few TNG) novels. I think that your T&T stories are just as good as those were if not better. Yes, I'm re-re-reading lots of fanfics. If only Paramount would re-open their book division they just might restart the reading of actual books and contribute to the recovery of part of the economy. Maybe someone should tell them that that could actually be their contribution? Heck, they could even reprint all of the books from 35-plus years ago and the 15 to 45 year old fans might snap them up, too!
Guest chapter 1 . 2/19
I keep forgetting to mention: I don't remember the approximate date but sometime in the late 1970's or early 1980's lots of brand new ST novels began appearing on bookstands and bookstores. They were all authorized, of course, but not considered canon. The ST movies had begun appearing only a short time previously and helped to spur further films. What I don't know is if the Current Powers That Be are willing to go that route again. It would be good for T&T fans to have the same consideration. This story is one of several, perhaps even many, that could benefit from professional publication. The drawback is these stories would have to be withdrawn from all of the archive sites. Nevertheless new stories could be written. A letter writing campaign kept ST:TOS alive for a 3rd season. Would something similar work for ST:E/T&T?

(Feb 2020) Wow! Now I feel embarrassed. You've commented on my comments. I freely admit that it's easy to comment on other peoples writing when one hasn't proved themselves. I think people like me can relate somewhat to T&T because we are/were in "mixed" marriages. Perhaps that's the real reason behind Sarek & Amanda? Our children & grandchildren don't fit into narrow-minded categories. There's a saying: "The heart wants what the heart wants." It applies to "mixed" families of all kinds including T&T. My grammar comments are a result of 1 parent being an immigrant who has spent years learning & speaking the best possible American-English. Some of that has rubbed off on me. I'm still tech-impaired & need a patient mentor. I'm also surprised that you've responded to my comments. Thank-you.

It would be (would've been?) very nice to have at least a couple more Daniel/T'Rissa stories. Oh, well. The world is filled with shoulda-woulda-coulda's. Their are a number of grammar errors sprinkled throughout your story-nothing exceptionally bad, but they are there. I realized that your story is akin to the old tv "miniseries" format-6 hrs in tv movies about a single storyline. Ok,this story is considerably more complex so it would need 12 sets of tv movies. Anyway, I do enjoy this story & I'm sure that I'll read it again someday. The way that D&T found each other, despite the surrounding deep brutality & chaos, solved their problems, & laid the foundation for a life together, is in its own way very sweet. If they were real people they'd deserve the best future possible. I imagine that T&T would've liked to have been at D&T's wedding (with apologies, that's the only change that I dare suggest). Thank-you for this story.

JAN 2020*I keep forgetting to say that I think that a 3 or 4 man crew is too small for a cargo ship that runs 24/7/365 (Terran). 21st century cargo ships have crews large enough to cover all shifts. Modern container ships are gigantic but, most importantly, they possess all manner of navigational aids that didn't exist 100 yrs ago. True, other inventions have reduced the overall crew size but one factor that has actually grown in importance is SAFETY. If a ship runs out of fuel they can still breathe. They can catch fish if necessary. Radios will have batteries. It might take several days but help will arrive. Deep space travel has a great many orders of magnitude more danger. We have to be smarter in our preparations. That might mean a larger crew than what is desired. There's also an old saying, "Many hands make lighter work." I hope that I quoted that correctly. Well, that's just my opinion. I also realize that my opinion detracts from your family-centric theme. It's a quandary for me.

Did the show ever show Trip demonstrating this level of anger? By the way, we usually referred to MRE's as Meals, Rejected by Everyone.
Guest chapter 5 . 1/29
JAN 2020*With 1/3 million-ish words it's easy to understand why you have so very many subplots which, in turn should make it easy to understand why I choose to read only my favorite parts. Unlike real life I suspect that too many subplots are too complex to juggle (only my opinion). Daily tv soap operas & season long tv story arcs make it easier to handle complex plots & subplots. Episodes from older tv shows were usually independant packages. True there were some 2-part stories & very rarely 3-parters (if any) but multi-episode arcs were far less common. I wonder if the reason I couldn't enjoy Lord of the Rings & the Dune series was the nit-picking & "micro-managing" exactitude of the stories? I have read 700-800 pages in a single 24 hr period, but the story was extremely engaging (I can also read fast). I know what I like but that DOESN'T make me an accomplished writer. Oh,well. I like the Daniel/T'Riss story because it also shows that Human-Vulcan "soulmates" can find each other. It's nice to have a "junior" version of T&T.
Guest chapter 4 . 1/29
Jan 2020I have been binge-reading T&T stories from various sources for almost 2 mos. Many I have liked, others are incredibly depressing. In this short period of time I can see that the concept of "strong-willed Vulcan woman is completely shocked when she realizes that she is head-over-heels in love with a human" might have been believed to be tough to sell to the fans when the brass 1st thought about it. ST:TOS did it with no hand-wringing when "Sarek & Amanda" were introduced. CHALLENGE: Look up "war brides." True, T&T are not "war spouses" but SOME elements still apply. They became close with each other, developed a deep emotional attachment, etc. To this day people from all over the world fall in love & marry people from other cultures/countries. It's often difficult but it can be done. Damaging, or worse, an admittedly fictional character to make that person somehow more relatable (or whatever) was a disservice to the fans. I suppose it might be said that "this is only 1 more mountain they have to climb to reach true happiness" could be claimed. Then the show ended on a very bad note.

JAN 2020*I 1st read this at Triaxian Silk. It's STILL there! I started having problems accessing Silk on 24 Dec but it cleared up. Can't leave reviews there (I'm very "tech impaired"-Weird Al song ref). Read it in entirety once, now just read favorite parts (sorry!). VERY latecomer to T&T. Had this computer only 2 yrs. Saw very few episodes of entire ST:E series. Sadly, can't read anyone's "missing scenes" stories-won't understand the reference (my loss). Never knew T&T fanbase was/is so intense. T&T must be all versions of ST's favorite couple. Actually like this story! Sadly, this Vulcan wife probably will outlive her husband by greater margin than T&T. This site still accepts new T&T stories. Heck, they have a Hogan's Heroes story published Dec 2019. Sadly, have seen ST:TOS since beginning (gigantic sigh). Hope you check this site for recent reviews. Want more quality T&T stories (realize Archer et al may have to be in background. No choice if on Enterprise.)!

Kind of wish he had killed her regardless of her crimes not cool with slavery of any kind. Which is what I believe section most likely has in mind.
Brian Goodman chapter 15 . 2/19/2018
Just found the fanfiction site and started reading your story and have to tell you that I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Your portrayal of Cmdr Tucker and giving him more depth and interest was enjoyed. I always liked him as a character but, it seemed like the series and most of the books I've read either play him as super shallow or make a character that I can't really find myself enjoying.
I know this story is older but, any book you haven't read is a new book.
Just wanted to let you know it was very enjoyed.

Love the Andorians, especially Sehlra - she is a riot!

Hi This is amazing. It's really good how you have so many plot lines all at once, it seems very realistic and you don't push your plotlines down warn out paths. :) On an unrelated note, what do all the a's mean in your chapter headings?
