Great part of the series - loved this POV

Oh. OH. My heart CANNOT handle this. And at the same time this was exactly what I needed, expressed far better than I could have expressed it. I love the image of Gideon and Hotch as "The image of the perfect father, split precisely down the middle." The motif of the family portrait was well-executed, the idea that they couldn't quite bring themselves to ruin the illusion for themselves, even though they knew it was an illusion, for fear of the consequences. I like how you brought in Hotch's guilt over his mistakes with Elle, and how he was afraid of making the same mistakes with Reid and then wound up messing up just as bad in spite of it all. And how you referenced Reid's description of the addict as being the tip-off, even though they hadn't quite figured it out yet. This is an amazing fic; thank you so much.

That always bothered me. They didn't even take notice that the drug Reid was subdued with wasn't on his body...

I liked this alot. Please update soon. I'd love to see Derek's perspective. Also would be interested in Gideon's n Garcia's thoughts as they watched Tobias beating Reid. How would Morgan reacted if he'd seen it. Just random thoughts.

You have a real knack of keeping characters in-character while still putting your own interpretation on them. Reid overdosing feels like too big an event to have happened 'behind the scenes' given the following seasons where his problem seems to have sorted itself out with no major impact on the team, so this feels more like an alternate storyline than being meant to take place within the canon timeline. But that does nothing to stop me enjoying this really well-written fic. Now, onto the rest!

I'm glad to hear from the teams PoV, that they weren't just ignoring because they didn't care, they just couldn't bring themselves to think that something like that could happen to Reid, or that Reid wouldn't be strong/smart enough to handle it on his own.
