Just stumbled across this while searching for more Afra stories. Would really love to read more of your writings involving Talent, Afra in particular. :-)
tuxie13 chapter 1 . 8/8/2008
this story could end up being longer if you wanted to, it has a great premise
Mairi chapter 1 . 10/13/2007
It is kind of involved for something so short. You could make it longer, maybe? The writing is very good, very gentle and thoughtful.

A few nitpicks, with actual review below.

If you could do something to separate your author's notes from the story, that would be good-I find a couple of - to work quite well, since is pretty complete in weeding out multiple carriage returns, etc. (blergh!)

There's a few awkwardly punctuated/worded areas. As noted before by another reviewer, the phrase "all of his adult life" is one of them. Might want to make his her, otherwise it takes on a rather creepy tone considering he likely changed a few of her diapers during his adult life. But he was certainly waiting for all of HER adult life to notice him properly! :D

"Her dark hair spread across the pillow the moon seemed" - missing a semi-colon after "the pillow". Sentence is run-on, otherwise, my mind wasn't too sure what to do with it when I was reading.

affect effect

You're also missing a few commas here and there, but I'm sure you can find them if you look.

So, that's the nitpicks.

As to the actual story - it's very sweet. :D I would like to actually see this expanded more; we don't really get Afra's thought process as much during these scenes, and it's nice to see someone's take on them.

Short, but nice enough I guess.

Except... "Afra Lyon had waited all of his adult life for her to say them" is more than a little dodgy. You're implying that he's been wanting her as his wife all that time, and considering that he was an adult well before she was even conceived...

Ew. No thanks.
