*drooling* *bawling* *pumping fist in triumph* OH MY GOSH. Too perfect. This is actually where my first wild thoughts told me the episode (and thus, the whole 3rd season) was going to go when John Smith first mentioned to Martha that she was in his dreams. That, combined with me not understanding how Joan the matron was his type, made me really do a double-take when the writers took that story in the totally different direction.

But now THIS is brilliant. It's absolutely and exactly and precisely what would have happened if Martha didn't get so much bad luck and they'd expounded on that "you're-in-my-dreams" idea. Absolutely perfect. And it's so interesting to see how differently Martha took the Doctor's return from John Smith. And oh gosh the end is precious. "Oh, Martha and I are eloping and you'll never see us again. Bye!" That's just...priceless. Can't tell you how much I love this story.

lol, I can imagine the Matron's story the next morning. XD

I think this was BRILLIANT. The best 'could have been' fic I've read set during that period. But my god did I feel sorry for Martha at the end!
