This is one of the best Lily tells James she is pregnant stories I've read. The emotion in the affair part had my heart beating so loudly. Great job. It shows them as exactly what they are: a young couple barely out of school, married, in the middle of the war and having a kid. Thanks!

This is such a good story. The emotions are so convincing, to the point that I actually welled up at the description of James after he confronts Lily, and Lily's thoughts are well presented.

It's a really well thought out plot, and it all comes together neatly - nothing seems implausible.

An absolutely outstanding fan-fiction. Brought me tears with emotion, something that happens extreemely rarely (real-life or otherwise).

Beginning at:

She had only made it up two stairs when her husband's voice, small and strained, completely lacking the furious strength it held earlier, called to her.

"Are you having an affair, Lily?"

and until:

"I believe you, Lily," he said simply. Relieved, Lily took another step forward and, removing her hands from his, circled her arms around him. He stiffened for only a moment, then reciprocated her embrace.

the emotive language is extreemely powerful. Well built up, even the reader is left guessing at the start. Then you roll through the emotions showing the stresses and fear of Lily, before moving over to James as I quoted above.

Powerful, moving and well-worked fiction.

The critical bit so you can improve. James seems a bit too idealistic, but it is through the eyes of Lily. Even so, it's a little.. lost... here in terms of the emotions. You've come down off a high emotions-wise and dealing with this isn't done perfectly. But it's not a fic-killer.

"receiving still no answer," on the second line should read: "still not recieving an answer,".

"Mummy, help me!" the little girl squeaked happily, her scarf streaking behind her as she ran. The young, blonde woman looked up from her magazine and laughed.

Where is this. We change location, but you miss out on a description. A park or just down the road? Weather can play a role in emotions - sun that contrasts with Lily and then can be used in the end to represent the actual happiness, or the reverse - rain/thunder, etc.

That was such a brilliant story! I couldn't keep a huge, goofy grin off my face as I read James's reaction to Lily's announcement. This was extraordinarily well written and absolutely lovely; it was so funny, yet so bittersweet. Bravo!
