This really is an excellent story, and I'm very sad to know it will never be updated :( I really enjoy you characterization of both obi-wan and Anakin.

Even though he may be softened, QG is still a bit of a jerk, as is the custom. Expecting a kid to congratulate the victor when they were dueling for the right to stay is just cruel. Did they nor any friend face the same exile happily? And why did they know it was farming? Explorer corps or education might have actually suited Obi-Wan. (I also think Anakin and Qui-Gon would have just as big a conflict as canon, as Obi-Wan was much kinder. Anakin obviously still leans to bully to use that mean nickname)

Seems like they got over the braid/figure thing. I was not encouraged by Anakin taking the bully line as that seems a bit off.

Well I've been reading your story so far and this makes no sense. Obi-wan was almost killed by Anakin in their last encounter and the next time they causally practice lightsaber together and part in amiable terms? What about Obi-wan's trauma?

I like this AU and your writing is good and keeps me on my toes. With that said I think this fic is very polarizing. For me I find myself asking why Obi-wan is constantly getting shit on. Why is it that Anakin can literally almost murder Obi-wan in cold blood and get a slap on the wrist, while Obi-wan kills Darth Maul in self defense and is not regarded as a hero but rather criticized because he dare feel human emotion? I realize revenge isn't the Jedi way but I would assume this is only applicable to actively seeking someone out to exact it, not when you are literally fighting to save your own life. I thought it was going to be Obi-wan's time to shine, but even in victory everyone in this fic just finds more flaws in him. Honestly, if I were in his position I would have already left the Jedi. The thing that keeps me reading this fic is that I really really want Obi-wan to finally triumph and become a great Jedi and for Anakin to be knocked down a few pegs.

Woah, Obi-wan's near Fall was super good and scary. I even found myself nodding along to some of the things Ventress said, even though I knew she was only trying to manipulate him into doing something horrible.

The growth of Anakin and Obi-wan's relationship is very well-written. It was interesting to see them reach this weird not-really-lovers, not-quite-just-friends state. I really love it when relationships are written like that, instead the old, tired 'they both had crushes/were in love with each other and finally told each at the same time and were happily/equally in love and invested in each other for the rest of time' trope. Not that I don't like that, but it gets a bit tiring to read after some time and doesn't have some of the complicated aspects that present in real relationships.

Also, I like the way you also always showed both sides of the story. There was never a point during which I did not sympathize with either Obi-wan and Anakin, even during their rivalry when they both did horrible things to each other.

I thought both of them were very in character too, considering the AU. Growing up in a much more stable environment and people he could depend on (b/c even if his mom was there, he couldn't really count on her b/c hey either of them can get sold at any moment), Anakin's way more mellow, which I liked. I remember reading somewhere that a lot of Anakin's rebellious nature had to do with needing to 'test' people to make sure it wasn't just a mistake and that they wouldn't just kick him out. So yeah, what I'm trying to say is that your Anakin is very believable and I can see how he there. Same with Obi-wan. I feel like Obi-wan's only really gained that serenity and wisdom when he began teaching Anakin and realized he had to toughen up and be a Master.

I really loved the story, and I'm off to read your other Star Wars work. Hope you continue this, but I understand if you don't. It's still an enjoyable read nonetheless.

Sorry but also why is obiwan so... Useless? Like all he can do is feel incompetent which I get cause of his surroundings but then all he has done so far is basically play caretaker to anakin and be looked down upon? Now I'm not a fan of Obiwan and I honestly didnt care for him much overall but the way this story has been going its made me feel like everyone besides obiwan deserves a big 'F U' card sent to them. Anyways I've surprised myself by actually disliking my favorite character anakin, but seriously he's been a bit of a meathead. Well meaning but :/

So.. I like the story and all but I can't help but to feel like obiwan has been getting he short end of the stick this entire time. Like yeah he gets jealous and the dark side is in him, but, why has he been getting faulted? Anakin has almost killed him and before had also continued to mock him or at least not understand that his actions have hurt obiwan when they were younger regardless of if he meant to or not. So I've been waiting for so sort of realization on his part and its just like. Nope. Obiwan has all the faults and anakin need not know what his actions have caused or even try to understand why obiwan is being the way he is. Also besides that it doesn't seem like anyone recognizes that obiwan IS good at lightsaber combat. All that's shown is him being beaten by anakin and I just don't understand why. It was already stated that he's second best.

DAM YOU! UPDATE! STOP ABANDONING THIS THING! STAPH IT! YOU CANT! PLEASE...just please update this thing and finish it...

I just have one question. What do you have against Obi-Wan? I understand going into the idea of him being jealous of Anikan, or hurt by Qui-Gon's treatment of him when finding the chosen one... but you write him completely OOC, not only in this fic, but also in "Qui-Gon heirs". I might be biased for he is one of my favorite characters, and you write well, but i can't seem to finish any of your stories because the way you write him just turns my stomach. I'm sorry for being so blunt and there are many people who like this story, but i just had to ask.
