This was really, really amazing. It's not often that i read a fic and then find myself thinking about it for ages afterwards, but this was definitely one of then. I loved the beginning, especially their reactions when something is missed out. It was really evocative, but in an amazingly concise, understated way that I loved, and can only hope to re-create in my own writing.
