barbi-black chapter 1 . 8/3/2017 very funny and original |
Greyline chapter 1 . 3/22/2015 I really enjoyed this. All three characters (even if Vernon's barely there) behave just how they ought to in such a situation, and the irony's rather amusing. For a while, I wasn't sure that they weren't just going to carry on ignoring what the other was actually saying, and just part ways without working out that they were talking about the same people (albeit from very differently biased perspectives). It's better that the conversation's reconciled, I suppose; I would have dearly loved to see Slughorn's proper reaction (outrage, surely) when Petunia told him just what she thought of her nephew. I wonder what else you've written? *wanders off to find out* |
FandomHearts1991 chapter 1 . 7/26/2014 I really enjoyed that one-shot. Well done :) |
uptillthree chapter 1 . 2/27/2013 Argh. I almost wish Vernon didn't arrive, so Slughorn could explain a bit more... and rub Harry Potter in Petunia's face. Either way, love the idea. It's got this 'so-close-but-not-quite' aura, to which you've somehow managed to give a satisfying ending. Plus, it's so original I must be hallucinating - really, you don't see a lot of good fics where the Dursleys are involved. |
Luiz4200 chapter 1 . 2/5/2013 Hilarious! |
Guest chapter 1 . 7/7/2012 I like the fact that half the whole time they didn't even recognize each other. And then when they do, Vernon arrives and stops the conversation. Ah, ignorance. Write on, writer! |
Aussie-Muggle chapter 1 . 10/25/2011 Best. Crackpairing. Ever. |
Expecting Rain chapter 1 . 1/5/2009 Petunia/Slughorn! Now THAT'S a new one, lol. Your characterizations were perfect, and I could actually imagine this situation happening - they're both too self-absorbed to pay too much attention to what the other one's saying. |
Pray for me. Pray chapter 1 . 8/4/2008 lol how Petunia's feelings changed! Lol..."fully prepared to go ranting in a furious whisper, when the most musical sound she'd ever heard came to her ears." Lol Vernon's voice was the most musical sound she'd ever heard of? Lololol. |
calicogoat chapter 1 . 7/16/2008 "Horace smiled at Petunia, and Petunia felt herself go deliciously damp all over." That will feature in my nightmares. The story was worth it, though-fantastic work! |
hypercell chapter 1 . 6/5/2008 That was really good! Lol! I loved it! |
LilyGinnyBlack chapter 1 . 5/24/2008 What a wonderfully written piece of irony! The use of dramatic irony here was the key factor that made this story so lovely. I was eager to watch the irony play out, waiting (im)patiently for Petunia and Slughorn to realize the people they were talking about were one in the same. And, I must say, the characterization was spot on. The way you made Petunia appear so fakingly polite and "charming" on the outside, but dying for gossip and whatnot on the inside was dead on. Your take on Slughorn was well-done too. Though, I must say that I've never read a fanfic that has featured him in it (another plus to add to this piece would HAVE to be originality), but I HAVE read the Harry Potter books, and you really captured him. A flatter and braggart. Finally, that ending: "Petunia opened her mouth to tell the whole story, then closed it and shook her head. 'No one important. Completely crazy. Still, he paid for the wine.' Vernon grunted and opened the menu." Adored it! - Completely captured Petunia's thoughts on the wizarding world and also summed Vernon up in one line. Great job on this and keep up the awesome work!.b ~Lily~ |
LoyalistEternal chapter 1 . 5/6/2008 Oh, this story is so deliciously twisted. I was held in suspense, wondering if they would realise whom one another was and when they did, I felt so bad for both of them, but got a good laugh regardless. |
Aequalitas chapter 1 . 5/3/2008 You are a truly wonderful writer. Keep up the good work. |
SakiJune chapter 1 . 4/29/2008 I loved the way you ended it. Horace is such a good fellow, and Petunia... well, she's not changed at all. One of the best stories I have read lately. |
