This was nice. Sammy trying to protect Dean and give him a present at the same time. Love that cord Dean wears, and the fact Dean gave half back to Sam to protect HIM is awesome.

Aww...love this. I always wonder where the leather strips come from. The boys seemed to be wearing them all say and never took them off. So your story here answer my question. And what a great story it was. Sammy is so cute in here, with jam and peanut butter on his face...much like a child i imagined him to be.

Remind me to beat myself over the head for letting any of your backlog of fics go unread. You constantly amaze, impress, and astound me. Your stories are so deceptively simple, complex in such subtle ways, from story structure,to the slow perfectly paced denouement, the heartbreakingly funny or tragic emotional gut punch you pack in - this was lovely, heartbreaking that an 11 year old is in this position and just ... lovely.

Wow, I LOVE this story! You did a remarkable job with the descriptions, really making them seem like little kids, whether through actions or words. Loved that Sam knew what Dean was saying, even when he couldn't talk cuz his throat hurt. And I loved that he remembered Dean's birthday, even though Dean himself had forgotten it was coming up.

I did want to kick John, just a little, for being so oblivious, but don't worry, it'll pass. ;) I was kinda sad for Dean, he was trying so hard to win some of his dad's approval back.

I loved that Sammy came up with the protection charm idea after reading about it in the book. That was a very Sammy-like thing to do. And it was so Dean to cut it in half to share with his brother.

I really, really loved the part with the Vick's. That was my favorite, Sammy helping Dean by finding it and helping to rub it in for him. So sweet! And this: "'Lonely without you,' Sammy says, pressing his face into Dean's neck, and they fall asleep together." Aw...made me want to cry a little. SO sweet! I am definitely putting this fic on my favorites list. Well done!

It's all good. But too bad John wasn't there to take care of Dean. And Dean didn't get better. So It feels incomplete.
