I've been re-playing Final Fantasy IX, basically back in love with Freya and Zidane, and so of course I had to return to reading this fic and I probably will return to it again and again whenever I replay FF9. 3

Beautiful language, touching themes, a wonderful story that reflects so many of my own thoughts on the characters. A favorite classic to be sure. 3

Your final comment in the end about being wishy-washy about Zidane/Freya and their somewhat boring canon pairing counterpoints is so very interesting to me and echoes my own feelings in general about alternate pairings. I happen to love Zidane/Garnet but there isn't really much for me to say about them (and I am very meh about Freya/Fratley, although that pairing is fun to mine the angst with). But what I do love is friendship, and THAT is what is conveyed through out this story and THAT is why I love it so much. That Freya and Zidane end up as lovers is icing on the cake, but the thing that is 100% assured is that they are close because they like each other as people and can be with each other without a label - I just can't picture Zidane and Garnet being able to stay friends if the lover card is removed.

All this to say - I came back to this fic after years and I still love it and I can see it's influence on my own stories. I also will never be able to write Zidane/Freya (friendship or romance) without thinking fondly of this fic. So thank you so much for this story and for turning a one shot into an epic ride. I hope you are still writing in whatever form that be, but even if not, these words were heard and felt. :)

That conversation at the end was really funny

i learnt today that Freya was now a playable character in Dissidia Opera Omnia and I instantly remembered this fic. I still love the bittersweet taste of this story and I feel kinda sad about how in the end those two couldn't really adapt to peace. As a traveller and former exchange student I can identify with how they feel and that's why I think you did a great job at conveying how hard is to go back to routine after a great adventure. Really good read, congratulations

So, it's been years, I know, but I recently saw this story recommended on , and upon reviewing my old comments, I realized I had never left a review on the final chapter.

First of all, I can't tell you how cool it is to see this fic recommended on another one of my favorite websites. It's very much deserved. Secondly, I have to let you know how much I appreciate you finishing the story the way you did, since it was something I remember you were unsure about. The way you allowed them to come together while still being true to their hearts was very mature and cognizant of how life and love are both more complicated than so many people think.

I just found this story and I have to say, it's one of the best FF9 fics I've read. ZidaneXFreya is an uncommon ship, but you sure sold it with the slow build up. You did an excellent job of keeping everyone in-character, too. I like how, at the end, the exact nature of Zidane and Freya's relationship is still ambiguous, which is apparently how they like it.

well this was a very pleasant read from start to finish. little snippets here and there detailing how their relationship grew and strengthened throughout their journey. very much enjoyed this ride. on a side note I'm happy to find I'm not the only one who didn't think that highly of fratley.

My fucking GAWD! I havent laughed that hard in months! Verbing the noun... Hah! I learned a lot of new euphemisms in this one, Im still fucking laughing my ass off! Pretty sure I woke the whole house up now! I cant log in normally, but this is my screen name for ffnet. If you feel up to it, send me more of those gems! The first, like, 8, I knew, but BAM! They started hitting me like Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas) and I cried in laughter!

I just spent the whole day reading this and I regret nothing. I was struggling with some major Freya feels and wanted something to cure those ills. Well, this certainly did it. I am with you in the fact that I never thought this paring could work because, yeah, the two are already so committed to other people, but this, this was amazing. Just amazing. It made me laugh, it made me get all choked up, and it had some deliciously steamy bits that I can't keep out of my mind. Few stories are so memorable to me, but this is definitely a keeper!

I have read the whole story. And i have to say, its the best fanfic i have ever read. This story made me think a lot about freya. The way you write makes you feel how she feels. It is very interesting to see how freya battles her emotion's in the last few chapters.

The story also made me laugh at some parts. Especially the funny conversations zidane and freya have sometimes.

You're story get's a 10 out of 10! I loved it! And keep up the good work!

( I really really hope you will continue this story sometimes. I really want to know what will happen next with fratley and freya. Will she be at peace finally sometimes? )

This is gonna' feel odd reviewing on a PSP. Anywho! There's always something about this first chapter attracts me to this story. The cute subtle hint of romance. 5 stars!
