You've created a beautiful alien species there. I love those cat-like flying animals (name suggestion: Flyats, Flycats - yeah, not very creative, I know), especially Scarlett and her babies. The way they treated everyone, especially Daniel, was so endearing.
Scarlett's infutation with Daniel was heart-warming.

I agree with Jack- that the aliens trusted them all from the get go was most definitively the "Daniel Effect". No wonder...I'd have followed him around too if I could do it without getting slammed with a stalking charge XD

Pity Daniel couldn't keep the Flycats/Flyats...they'd make wonderful companions...they'd have to be house-trained (in more ways than one) though, or poor Daniel would go mad having to constantly clean them...

This was completely adorable! Great creativity in making balloon-cats. I had honestly never imagined such a creature before I read about them. They're really cool! Thanks so much for sharing, and I'll definitely check out that sequel. :)

This is a truly lovely story. Scarlett is adorable and I'm glad you've written a second story that included her. I hope to find more of them in the future. Pagan
