Guest chapter 6 . 6/7/2019 Great fic! |
Stoneboss chapter 6 . 3/19/2019 I know this is a dozen years too late, but I hope you can forgive me, because I was still struggling my way through picture books when this was written. You are amazing, and I don't care if I'm shouting into the void here. Your writing is smart, atmospheric, emotional, all those English class descriptors I wish I actually knew how to apply. It made me actually think, like, Deep thoughts about deeper meanings. I wanted to understand what you were getting at. Is the setting related to how the US reacted to 9/11 in the intervening years, both culturally and in the government? You were talking about the power of journalism, and I was thinking about real life examples and how it applies in today's climate. Like, you did that! Your writing inspired me to think something more than 'haha neato'! Like a burst of lightning, I remembered why fiction was important. I love how genuinely creative this is, how much love, effort, and skill you put into telling your story. Lois is an amazing protagonist, and I feel privileged to have spent the past several hours sharing my headspace with her. It's three AM and I think my last dregs of coherency are leaving me, but oh fudge I didn't even touch on how much I love your interpretation of superman, or how at points I had to get up and take a moment to process when a line was just that good. Thank you for writing this. You're amazing. I love you, bye. |
Daze-dly chapter 3 . 9/17/2018 Ahh... been reading through Shatterfall and Getting Eaten Alive like they're old friends. Feels so good! Just wanted to let you know if you do ever decide to return to the Superman fic verse I will definitely be following! Thanks for another great read :-) |
Blueowl chapter 6 . 5/21/2018 Wow. The depth in all these chapters is unreal. I really wish there was more to read... Maybe there will be an update someday. In either case, I will still hope and be glad that I read this at all. |
Sorkin's Gal Friday chapter 6 . 5/5/2018 Hello! I know this story is over a decade old, and it's a long-shot that you're even still on anymore. I wanted to tell you that this story and your other story, "Getting Eaten Alive," are the BEST Superman stories I have ever read. I absolutely love the way you gave the characters and plot line a new twist. This story is particularly intriguing. I know it's extremely unlikely, but I would love it if you would finish this story. I really want to know what happens when Kal and Lois try to start a family. It's such a unique story idea. I really want to see it resolved. Anyway, I know it's unlikely that you'll ever even seen this message, let alone finish the story, but I wanted to let you know that I think it's fantastic. |
Sreya chapter 1 . 5/18/2017 I'm treating myself to a trip through old favorites. I really love the narrative in this one. The cadence of Lois's thought pattern is beautiful, despite the dark world it occurs within. And seeing a Superman that has sacrificed every moment of a normal life - it's noble but heartbreaking. You can't hope but grab at the straws of light their friendship introduces. And the ending is perfectly balanced between the realities of what they face with the glimmer of hope that, together, they can make a real difference Joining these two won't just mean more superheroes to listen for shatterfalls, but also a team that will fight against whatever is directing them in the first place. |
Guest chapter 6 . 8/10/2013 Oh my God! I just found your story & I so hope you are coming back to it, because it is GREAT! Yes this could work as a stopping point, but please don't stop! |
Hayden Avery chapter 6 . 6/19/2013 I really hope you continue this sometime |
jadengreen36 chapter 6 . 12/16/2012 I hope your muse has not forever fled. I have checked back every few months on both your stories - especially this one - salivating for a new chapter. I am on tenterhooks to see what happens next, especially The Scene where Kal gets indoctrinated into babymaking, whether he believes it can happen with a "turkey baster" or is willing for a more natural occurence, and is then awesomely surprised by the experience. I want to see if Lois is forced to go into hiding, and how she handles all of the while being Acting-editor-in-exile. I want to see how Lex attempts to bring the world and Kal to their knees, and for what. I want to see Lois meet Clark in denim in Smallville. I enjoy your style of writing, and the voices you have given Lois and Kal, and I hope we get to hear them again. Wishing you well, |
Guest chapter 6 . 7/2/2012 This was so good. Different from the usual. I wish it would have continued. I wanted to see where else you went with it. |
MyShadowWalksBesideMe chapter 6 . 6/21/2012 JESUS. WHY HAVE YOU NOT UPDATED THIS. GET ON WITH IT PLEASE, IT HAS BEEN FIVE YEARS. Seriously, though. Please? I read and loved 'Getting Eaten Alive,' (okay, so, devoured it) and then I saw you had another Superman fic and thought, 'oh well, maybe it's finished and he ... she ... Tandrelmairon just hasn't changed the stats to reflect that.' And then I hit chapter 6 and it's all 'Lois and Superman are going to have babies! The Planet is gone! Lex Luthor, Witness Protection in Smallville! Over? Why would it be over?' and I was not happy. I mean, I love your writing. 'Eaten' was FANTASTIC, I finished it in half an hour and skipped pretty much all social interaction with my visiting family to do so. This, 'Shatterfall,' is the best disaster-fic I've ever read, in this or any other fandom. You are amazing, you capture Lois's character perfectly so that even when she does something that would, in any other story, be completely out of character (i.e., offering to be Superman's babymama) it seems perfectly natural. That is real skill, and real talent. You have that. You suck people in so that they are hoping and grieving right along with your characters. Points for the shatterfall plot-point because it was original and interesting and it worked, and for introducing Lex Luthor subtly because he was just lurking along in there and I didn't even notice until the grand reveal. I loved the loyalty of the Planet's staff, and the way you can capture Lois's snarky, sarcastic voice. I love the way you make Superman/Clark/Kal so loyal to his own ideals and to his parents and Lois's rights, even when he is so tired. I even love that they don't get along all the time, because Lois isn't that kind of person, and they're too tired to handle each other with kid gloves. Now. You are brilliant. You are adored. You are frickin' worshipped. PLEASE FINISH THE STORY. Okay, the little note-thingy at the bottom says to offer a 'well rounded critique,' as it is 'often the most rewarding gift a reader can give,' besides money. Which I can't give you over fanfiction. And I haven't said anything negative, so my critique is, as yet, un-rounded. Square? Cubular? Whatever. Here is something I do not like about this story: it is not finished. That's about it. Please fix this. The End. |
Singollo Lomien chapter 6 . 1/10/2012 The story is really good and I love how you've developed the AU world. Your writing style works very well and really expresses the feelings of the characters. I hope you continue this story someday. |
bloodymary2 chapter 6 . 2/3/2011 Your writing has a grace few writers manage to produce. As both a writer and a reader, I thought that should be the fisrt point I make. The story is great in its conception and wonderfully constructed in its plot development. I could see the progression of the shatterfall problem, I saw Luthor as clearly as if I had read his name long before you exposed it and I knew the steady relationship between Superman and Lois ran so much deeper than simply romatinc or platonic. At the same time, I am stumped about the real cause of this 'war', the extent of Luthor's involvement and the ending. And that is amazing. You have managed to lead us successfully through this battered and broken world, you made us care for this characters and their fate and you made it all without being direct... even once. Consider yourself tallented. :D Now, for the matter of updates, I was sorry to see how long it's been since you posted last. Again, through the eyes of a writer, I understand loosing the connection with your writing and having a hard time, after so long, reconnecting. I do, however, beg you to try. This is one of those great stories that deserve an ending and a 'complete' stamp. Sending you positive vibes through the net... hope you don't mind. :) |
anemix chapter 6 . 11/11/2010 I really liked this story, though this last chapter seems a bit off without any romantic feelings shown in earlier at all. I really wish that you would complete this, but it doesn't seem likely at all. Chapter 3 was a bit hard to follow time-line wise though because I thought it was a flashback for the first half of the chapter. I hope you keep writing! (\/) ( . .) c(")(") BUNNY |
viv920 chapter 1 . 9/30/2010 I have only just been introduced to your writing, both this work and Getting Eaten Alive, and all I can say is that your writing is simply beautiful. I don't have the knowledge to be able to comment expertly on the subtleties of your writing technique. What I can say is that your exposition is both engaging and emotive and your dialogue has an almost lyrical quality to it. The intricacy of the plot and the intellect behind it I simply marvel at. Excuse the cliche, but I can't wait to see what happens next. The emotive depths to which you took me as a reader - both the light and the dark - were almost painfully poignant and leave me yearning for more. Your characterisation is unique but rings so very true and very real and I find myself swept up by them. Online fanfic simply doesn't do your talent justice but I truly hope you will one day come back and complete this particular work. I notice that I've been acquainted with this piece of writing some 3 years since its last update, all I can do is subscribe to the story alert and hope. Brava. |
