Quite interesting how this line "She stares at him. He stares back." with the spaces and such, ACTUALLY made me see them in those long panels of silence that Fumi Yoshinaga is So well known for.

I like how "She tilts her head to the other side. “How much baking powder?”" this line broke the silence. Awesome. Again, I can imagine Fumi Yoshinaga's art here too rofl.

"Ono stares at the box of baking powder in his hands until she gets back." - ROFL and yet AGAIN I imagine Fumi Yoshinaga silent panel work.

"He leans down and touches his lips to Chikage’s " - you know. I was ACTUALLY surprised about this. I actually DIDN"T think you'd get Ono to do it. But you went through with it and it was strangely a pleasant surprise. I'd expect aa ton of other fic writers would do it. but i must have been reading way too much of your YYH fics where kurama and hiei don't really get together lol. What's the point of introducing the idea of the kiss early in the story and not go through with it right? lol

Anyways, glad Ono finally kissed Chikage... at least in this fic. I remember reading Antique Bakery and going "oh gawd, it's one of those few mangas where they don't GIVE you the goods so you want it to happen out of frustration" lol

Very clever and sweet! Usually when folks think "Antique Bakery" they think Ono, Eiji, Tachibana, and Chikage. I like the way you brought in Deko.

And her blithe and innocent prattle while working with Ono... and his reactions. All so charming!

I loved reading this - it was sweet and funny in all the good ways, with an adorable Deko and an equally adorable Ono and Chikage. All in all, this read like the manga at its best, and in spite of your author's notes, I really hope this won't be the last recipe you'll ever give a try.

I must disagree with you, I think you write this fandom beautifully. This was so sweet and gentle. I loved Ono's interaction with Deko and his present to Chikage. I too had wished they would have hinted at the start of a relationship between these two in the manga, and I was disappointed in the *non-ending* of the manga, so when I saw there was a story to read, I just couldn't resist reading it. I hope that you might try your hand at another story sometime soon.
