This is Fire. Sorry to have heard that you didn't really like it. I think it's very insightful. Some constructive criticism: watch out for verb tense agreement. You switch from past tense to present tense, then back to past tense. I know it's a oneshot but I would definitely continue reading it if you decide to write more. :) Don't hate me for my criticism.
