Wow this story is brilliant! You really had me going. I was wondering what the heck Beverly was doing kissing Picard if everyone knew he was seeing someone else, and even more so what Picard was doing kissing her back if he was soooo in love with this Desiree. Great twist! :)

This is wonderful :D I will admit, I clicked on here rather dubious after the "not a Mary Sue" claim, which is too often exactly what you find within the stories. But I'm so glad I did click! You had me right up until the very end. And I love how it then changes the reader's perspective, it's wonderfully clever. :D

"Riker's outrageous flirtations, Data's wistful pronouncements, LaForge's teasing banter..." This really stuck with me, especially the fantastic subtle way it all alters once her true identity is made clear. XD

Holy Cow, I fell for it! I thought Desiree was a new crew-member, twenty or thirty something! Because of this, I was surprised at the P/C kiss, then I read the last few sentences... lol, I fell for it!
