I, too, have always found it ugly and wondered why she chose this style. Even in her earlier days, and even when she wears a bathing suit, her neck is covered up. Byakuya scrutinizing Unohana is something I've always wanted to see. He's such a stiff (most of the time) that him actually taking interest in someone is entertaining. And this was entertaining. More so when Kyouraku popped in. :D
