Guest chapter 2 . 2/3/2018 Dc used inpiration from your story in their new movie as batman say that his techer always says (once you have eliminated the impossible what ever remains how ever impropiable it must be the truth) and the movie plays in the same time of sherlock holmes |
rayningnight chapter 24 . 4/25/2015 Amazing story. I-I can't even express how a thrilling ride this was. I will be truthful - I'm not even in either of these fandoms - but I still was able to understand and loved every bit of it. (I watched BBC's Sherlock, the Batman Begins/Dark Knight trilogy, that Batman cartoon, and snippets of comics). You've inspired me to actually read the original Sherlock Holmes series. So... bravo. Kudos. -Rayne |
Darkmaster006 chapter 3 . 7/28/2013 I am really liking your writing and the story itself, the only deatil I'd say that I see as "wrong" is that, if Holmes wants to keep his lifespan, he'd have stopped smoking, and just kept the pipe because of image. I remember one Sherlock/Batman meeting on comics, Detective Comics #572 where Holmes, as old as you mention him, or maybe a bit more, says that he kept his pipe just for image, by the way, that story totally could function as a future to this, where Sherlock wants to measure Batman's deduction abilities (In fact if he trained him it'd be logical) to see if he's a good successor, and Watson is dead too. |
Cookie chapter 24 . 10/27/2012 You have no idea how much I love you for writing this story. The world's two greatest detectives together in a book? Best. Idea. EVER! |
Marcus S. Lazarus chapter 24 . 1/19/2012 I might prefer the more modern Batman with the gadgets and equipment that come with it, but the concept of him teaming up with Sherlock Holmes is more than enough to make me put aside those doubts in favour of checking out such an intriguing story. Their initial meeting was excellent, perfectly capturing both their respective moods at this time- Holmes’s preference for the quiet life and Bruce’s inner rage and dissatisfaction seeking a vessel and means of venting his anger-, and subsequent developments as Bruce takes in Holmes’s lessons about the importance of image and other matters to the field of criminal investigation were excellent, each step neatly providing a piece of the puzzle that would result in him assembling his later identity as Batman. Their initial cases might be simple, but they progress nicely as Bruce’s own skills develop, to say nothing of the interesting contrast between more straightforward murders to more complex cases relating to Batman’s future history, such as Holmes and Bruce investigating the origin of the future Venom formula or Bruce’s first meeting with Oswald Cobblepot and Jonathan Crane that may have contributed to their future descent into villainy. Admittedly, the part featuring Bruce and Jamie Watson discovering that note about the origin of Holmes’s interest in crime detection was completely inaccurate- the tale Holmes told Watson in ‘Adventure of the “Gloria Scott”’ suggested that Holmes was just always very observant but it took those events to catalyse the idea that his attention to detail could have a practical purpose, rather than him setting out to become a detective like you suggested there-, but otherwise you certainly had some interesting ideas, particularly with the concluding reference to Catwoman and the moment when Bruce donned the Batman costume for the first time. A few bits might have been a bit cliché, and I wouldn’t have minded seeing Holmes’s opinion of Bruce’s chosen identity for fighting crime, but the central concept was excellent, and you DEFINITELY had some intriguing ideas on how the two would come together, I assure you; the only thing I would have really included that you lacked was a scene where Holmes and Alfred got a chance to talk (And maybe something specifying what happened to Watson; was he dead, or not?). |
Lilybet chapter 24 . 10/4/2011 Fantastic. An excellent blend of Sherlock Holmes and the Dark Knight. Jolly good show! LB |
James Birdsong chapter 24 . 7/27/2011 Fantastic |
Kelana-ti chapter 24 . 6/19/2011 Very nice crossover. :D I really enjoyed reading it. I like what Sherlock said at the end, about hoping that Bruce has several proteges... that was funny. I also enjoyed how you showed Bruce growing in his detective skills, among other things. |
Zexs chapter 24 . 1/14/2011 I really felt like I was reading a Holmes novel great work |
Mistlan chapter 5 . 11/6/2010 I love how you portrayed the two and you're really good at Mysteries. |
RTVfan chapter 7 . 11/25/2009 I love this story, thank you for mixing two of my favorite characters together. I'm only part of the way through "Secret Serum" part 1, but this is already one of my favorite fanfictions ever . Kudos. I'll post a longer review when I'm finished reading the whole thing. |
Sir Thames chapter 24 . 4/6/2009 Well done, mate. Spot on! I rather hope you'll continue this in some form or another. |
Carycomic chapter 24 . 3/21/2009 I second Louie's emotion. :-) |
Louie Pastiche chapter 24 . 3/21/2009 I don't know why you had to give this epilogue chapter-length autonomy. But, I still loved it. Thanks for re-posting it. |
Loneheart chapter 23 . 2/16/2008 I know exactly what you mean about the last chapter being like a monster off your back, from writing my own monster a few years ago. You can rest easy in the knowledge you have done the idea behind your story credit. Batman was introduced in the 1930's and that is around the time Sherlock Holmes would have been in his golden, if not twilight years, so the idea is actually an extremely strong one. I too have had doubts about the value of investing so much time and energy in writing something that cannot be legally published. If it is any help to you I have spent several years trying to write something for publication and failing. Writing something that is actually read and enjoyed by others is more rewarding that writing something to be read by one or two editors and then getting a rejection slip. |
