excessivelyperky chapter 1 . 11/26/2015 Yes, Arabella kept Harry safe from *magical* harm. What a pity she couldn't do anything about the Dursleys. |
Lunaliceazreal chapter 1 . 9/14/2015 Aww that was great |
experiment13 chapter 1 . 3/11/2012 This story made me (even more) proud to be a crazy cat lady. And it was sad and sweet at the same time! Very well written, I think it was a lovely story. |
creativesm75 chapter 1 . 3/29/2009 cool |
Morning. xx chapter 1 . 2/18/2008 I'm a crazy cat lady, but unforunately... they don't talk to me P! Just wondering... why did the cememtary cat think her kittens were in danger? |
Prieda Solo chapter 1 . 9/10/2007 wow! This is a great story, very well written and a wonderful description of a very little looked at character. The theme of protection and everything is great and the last line especially was really, really good :) Dumbledore is well drawn too (He's the narrator right?) even though he's not actually on stage. Great work! |
ooOoo0ooOoo chapter 1 . 9/10/2007 and yet I know. i adored this for reason I can't write because there aren't any words right for it yet. |
truthsetfree chapter 1 . 9/5/2007 Very nice! She's such an under-explored character, so I must give you extra points for originality. Very well written. My favorite lines were: "Young careless kittens, too slow for the passing drivers and aged toms, too old to hiss at death anymore, are buried there. She tends to them, clearing away the weeds and the fallen leaves from their resting place, and often talks to them, about their offspring and their littermates," and "They shared her bed at nights, purring softly, whispering between dreams and waking charms and chants of another, ancient time. They told her tales and legends from a faraway land where the sun always shines, and evil dares not walk under the merciless sunlight. They wove around her a shield of protection, working with claw and fur and kneading paws." |
Frayed Misfit chapter 1 . 9/3/2007 This story is remarkable in its untainted simplicity. The feelings that you have captured in such a minor character is breath-taking, you made me feel her sorrow in being a sqib and what a dissapointment it must be, especially comming from a pure-blood family. The portraits that you have written of her mother and father are also sensational, I saw the image of her father pouring ove ancient scrolls and it mesmorised me. The ending was also wonderfully strong, I adored the line: "Little do they know that where soft paws walk, Darkness dares not tread." This fic is simply georgeous, I am adding it to my favourites. Thank you for such a delightful read. - Frayed |
Nytd chapter 1 . 9/2/2007 This was a very well-written piece. Nice background story for Arabella, and you did Dumbledore justice in my opinion. Two thumbs up and two paws from my feline pals who liked it too! |
Cuban Sombrero Gal chapter 1 . 8/28/2007 Great work, and it's nice to see such a brilliant portryal of an under appreciated character. Cuba |
Luna Rapunzel chapter 1 . 8/28/2007 Very unique and a really enjoyable read. Nice! |
Padfootatheart chapter 1 . 8/27/2007 What a tribute! This was a very honorable piece...very dignified in word choice, but still heart felt. A very incredible accomplishment! Paddy |
Lexie-H chapter 1 . 8/26/2007 Wow, a fitting tribute to Arabella Figg. Very nicely written, the narration was very Dumbledore, and the way his words shaped the characterisation of Arabella was fantastic! I have a C2 community and forum called the Reviews Lounge where we aim to promote underreviewed authors and their stories: i found this at random, and i really think it deserves to be shared ) so im adding it to the community! Really well done, Lexie |
Morbane chapter 1 . 4/10/2007 I'm having a little trouble here with the balance between Dumbledore-telling-Minerva-the-story and traditional narrative pace; it seems a little too descriptive and omniscient for the former, while too personalised for the latter. Otherwise I love this. The conclusion is lovely and Arabella's simple power is given dignified credibility. |
