That was probably one of the best one-shots I've read in a really, really long time.

I was sure that both would die, and I was okay with it. Then, both survived. I was more than okay with it. Putting the poem in was ingenious - it disabled me from seeing that the story didn't end with their deaths. It came as a complete surprise.

I have to admit I'm guilty for not reading the poem into depth, but the story was so intence and since it was not finshed, I couldn't just take my mind off of it...sorry

Anyway. I really liked the story. The continuous time skipping throughout, surprisingly enough did not cause any problems with the overal progression of it. You might have heard it before, but even if you stopped the story before the poem, then it would not have been unpleasant, but the fact that both of them gain back their humanity at the end, with Naruto having fullfied his promise and Sasuke having retured, just makes the difference to a more complete and happier version.

I think the idea of them waging war as demons just has a certain something to it. It seems so natural and unstoppable. Kind of like it became a familiar feature of life in their world. Like some legendary tale that everyone is proud of just because it belongs to their past. Even if it became so hopeless, at least they had some sort of relationship. Even if they hated each other, I still think the worst thing would be for them to be totally apart and unaware of each other.

I actually would have been okay with a sad ending, especially if they were to die together (see previous paragraph). But I do like happy endings, so I am completely content with the final ending.

One thing that was a bit unclear was whether Sasuke was aware of Kyuubi. He didn't seem to know when Naruto made his demon comment, but then when he transformed, Sasuke seemed to have some inkling of what he had done. They had also already had the waterfall fight, so you have to wonder how stupid Sasuke is if he can't figure out that Naruto is not completely normal.

Back to the ending. It sends fuzzy feelings all up and down my spine. Love it. It is a great story. Happy Writing.
