Dis Thrainsdotter chapter 1 . 1/15/2005 I can almost see the young Boromir with my minds eyes, as well as the persons he meets. A truly great fic, thanks for sharing. |
horsiegurl chapter 1 . 12/8/2004 I like this story. That sounds like what Boromir would do. He cares for commoners and hates for his family to be insulted. |
Boromir chapter 1 . 10/4/2004 I really liked this story. Please write more about Boromir and the young healers friendship. |
JastaElf chapter 1 . 10/4/2004 Oh my, what a grand little tale... the child is so perfectly child-like, teetering on the edge of maturity as nine year olds often do, and is so *right* for his age! You have observed your own little charges well, nin mellon! The simplest details are always the best, and you show that beautifully here. The way Boromir reacts to the injury... the manner in which he sneaks from the house, assesses all he sees, deals with all he encounters... just lovely stuff. And I think I'm half in love with Mánion... he's so quiet and compassionate and intelligent... neat character! And of course, the denouement is perfect: he arrives after the other boys, but RIGHT on time... deals with his verbal tormentor... and pays the price. (snicker) Poor kid... but this all adds up to a realistic, clever, lyrical story, a nice, tight, complete piece of perfection. A VERY fine job! And thank you for sharing it! |
Archet chapter 1 . 10/3/2004 A very sweet and enjoyable read! I do adore your young Boromir: the lengths he'll go to in order to keep his accident a secret, his inability to understand why others might look on Mánion as being 'lesser', and most of all I love the end where he socks it to Eldûn. So like Boromir, standing up for those who can't stand up for themselves. Lovely descriptions of the Houses of Healing, of Boromir's ordeal to get there. Loved this young Boromir, his pride and honesty and his matter of fact handling of Eldûn. I understood all of his motivations and really did enjoy his little adventure. Nice job! :) |
Casey Toh chapter 1 . 10/3/2004 I'm back to review. :) I totally love Boromir, even if he's a kid here. :) He's already acting like a warrior and a Steward's son instead of like a nine-year-old. *grins* May I hug him? ;) |
jilian baade chapter 1 . 10/2/2004 Great story! I love Boromir defending his house and his mother. You go kid!Boromir. I just wish I could see the bruise on the other boy's face |
mirasaui chapter 1 . 10/1/2004 I loved this story of young Boromir and his apprentice healer friend Manion (sorry, cannot make the accent marks on my keyboard). It is just like a youngster to not wish others to know he injured himself in a way that is clumsy and not more admirable, although as adults we know how easily that can happen. Sadly, innocents cannot always understand the reason for prejudice, but Manion's slight is championed when Boromir takes on Eldun. I could have kissed him for his words. As always, I like your descriptions, especially of the healing room, the bottles, sacks of herbs and especially the golden liquid that smells like meadow. A sweet story, I enjoyed it. Mira |
Isabeau chapter 1 . 10/1/2004 Aw, what a sweet prezzie! I can just see Boromir bashing his other hand trying to break someone's nose. It was good to see Manion again too, in his self-possessed, adolescent incarnation. The part I liked the best though, was Boromir's careful avoidance of Ioreth. |
