I love the friendship in it. It's more friendship than love, and it's a refreshing concept. You don't need to be in love to understand each other, after all.

I enjoyed the humorous chapters very much and having gotten to read them as the characters and their relationships were developed, it made this last serious, dramatic chapter, all the more compelling...I like the serious parts of the story very much.

Because humor is a huge part of who Reno is, that can always be a part of his relationship with people...although their job certainly is not a humorous job...what a contrast.

Anyway, whether YOU or Reno or Elena want to admit it, :-) I see this as a growing romance between Reno and Elena and there is nothing forced about it at all since you have been swearing that isn't where they are headed. But their chemistry together, in your story, is too strong to ignore the very strong likelyhood of them being become romantically involved eventually...and not in the superficial way that Reno has been involved with women in the past.

I have one more chapter to read but I wanted to put in my two cents here first.

Okay, so, I just re-read this whole fic (plus 2 new chaps I hadn't read) after a long time, and it's just as much fun as it was the first time.

I think it's about time Rude had his turn behind the pranking wheel again- I still think the funniest chapters are the Mr. Foo-foo chronicles, either version.

Seems to me that Rude is the only one with the advantages of a clean slate (as far as Tseng's records of pranks go,) a deceptively passive demeanor, and lots of time observing the making and breaking of pranks from both sides of the scale.

I honestly think that Rude could take the gold for best prank, and never get caught. Reno's ideas are hilarious, but Tseng is onto him, so it's nigh impossible for him to pull something off. Tseng kicks pranking ass and takes pranking name, with the whole "omniscient" thing going on. Elena, for as well as she can dish it out to Reno, I don't think she has the... temarity to prank Tseng.

But Rude has the hilarious ideas, the mad skillz, and the (well concealed) gall to have a good laugh at them all, and deflect the blame onto Reno.

Because torturing Reno is fun.

Seriously, I think there's a huge well of untapped Rude potential sitting right at your feet.

In other news, reading your fic has brought back my taste for FFVII fanfiction, which I had feared was permanently, tragically dead. I don't know why it left me, but it was a dreadful day when I didn't jump for joy if to see a favorite fic updated. But now it's back! And I think it may be almost two years of back-reading that I now must catch up on! Psh. There goes the neighborhood, huh? (Or at least my free time. Oh, wait, I don't have any free time. What am I supposed to be doing right now, again? oh, whatever.)

So thanks! And a really sarcastic-sounding, "Gee, thanks a LOT" from my Real Life responsibilities.
