I actually read this story back when it was first published, in the early days of my encountering Tamora Pierce and fanfiction together, but fell out of the trend early on. Recently I've read her Tortall quartets for a second time, and my newfound love for Raoul and Wyldon reminded me of this very fic. After a year of reading fanfic after fanfic, trying to remember what the author or title or theme of this story was, I am glad to have finally come across it again!

I admire your style of writing in this piece, and I really like the take you took on Raoul's relationship with both liquor and his romantic interests. Everything you outlined was very true to characters, storyline, and timeline. Congratulations on a fic very well written!

Now I'm off to investigate some of your Wyldon works. :)

I really liked this story, but I think my favorite part was the final line. You summed up the entire fic in just a few words and made me rethink everything that had gone on throughout the plot. You are a truly talented writer and I can't wait to see more of your work.

I really like this. Good grammar and correct spelling are the first thing I look for, and all was wonderful. I like how you took the characters, and kept them IC, but filled the holes TP left. For instance, explaining what caused Raoul to stop drinking liquor. I also love the complexity of the love triangle: Raoul/Gary/Cythera - an interesting take.

Wyldon is perfectly lovable - and he's written in character! There are some fics out there that don't take in characterization from ALL four books, so he ends up being rather two dimensional.

I don't know if you've ever watched NBC's The Office, but I got flashbacks from it from about two lines in the fic. It was from one of my favorite episodes, so that effect - unintentional probably - was a nice bonus. ;)

One of favorite bits has to be the last line:

"Yes, they had all needed their first love, if only to help them recognize the right one."

This is amazing, I am so moved I scarcely know what to say. You've made me see a whole new aspect to Raoul, characters were perfect and then some.

OH I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! It was super! There was an occasional mechanical mistake, but it was entertaining and the whole "Sleeping with [name] was a mistake." was so...I can't even find the right word. You captured their personalities perfectly in fic. Thank you! THANK YOU SO MUCH!
