You do a good job of capturing the confusion and horror of battle. It's a very quick little story, but it has a satisfying (if tragic) arc, where the brothers are together at the beginning, separated by the violence in the middle, and then finally united at the end.

That was easily one of the most effective pieces of tragedy I've read on this site - well done for creating such an atmospheric story. I loved your portrayal of the dynamic between the brothers, and the way you included the romance between Gideon & Marlene.

It was a great concept, and very well executed (forgive the morbid pun). It was touching that the brothers held hands to die. I loved it.

I feel at loss of words. Never thought much about them, but of course, you have put your thoughts together in a beautiful spin of words.

Oh my goodness, this was so sad! It made me cry when Gideon said, "Fab... I'm gonna see Marlene again" and when the way they died together... It made my heart just break!

Oh my goodness. This was so wonderfully sad. Fabian and Gideon are so often turned into Proto-Twins, but you've given them a playful and altogether unique personality. And in the short length of the story, I followed them closely enough to be truly affected by their dying. This was just lovely - so glad I read it!

It brought tears in my eyes! I will admit that the first part of your fic was a little slow but the end is so powerful, it justifies the first part. I really liked it, it was sad but the love between the brothers smoothed it.

How tragic. I love the portrait of the Prewett brothers you've painted here, especially in Fabian's line "What is the right thing anymore?" - it sums up perfectly the time of the First Order. And the last moments of them were horribly sad, but beautiful writing.

If you ever flesh it out, I would love to read that version as well.

wow- for 30 minutes, this is awesome- i was sort of thrown by how stunningly similar my view of the Prewetts is to this, so it really hit me, but really, a great piece- i love the marlene/gideon idea (god, it really freaked me out- i'll have to go back and look, but gideon's line about marlene is really similar to one i wrote, from your publishing date, a bit later... spooky O_O- guess great minds think alike and all); their last lines- together to the last- are wonderful- and the sense of their different talents, given so quickly, and the loss of rhythm.. ooh. just a great snapshot. and the reasoning of why they joined, so simple and perfect- great job, really. wonderful job :D
