megSUPERFAN chapter 3 . 9/24/2018
SO STINKIN CUTE AHHHHHHH

I'm sorry. I have gone temporarily insane. Forgive me. I love it! :D
megSUPERFAN chapter 2 . 9/24/2018
One thing: "dry socks for Pippin". I don't think hobbits wear socks- do they?
But that aside, this was perfect. I've never read such a wonderfully accurate description of Sam, EVER. I can't wait til Aragorn learns what Sam did on the quest into Mordor!
megSUPERFAN chapter 1 . 9/24/2018
I must admit I laughed at "Horses were meant for the tall!" Ah, Gimli.

You've no idea how much I NEEDED this story. Wow. Thank you.
Werde Spinner chapter 3 . 9/9/2013
Oh, so this is the story of how that song that Sam loved so much came about! :) Well, I'll happily accept your version as my headcanon of what really happened. And the thought of Gandalf singing Bilbo's bath-song... I officially love your writing, okay?
Werde Spinner chapter 2 . 9/9/2013
I have no words to express how utterly and completely flawless your analysis of Samwise Gamgee is. I really don't. I have absolutely *never* seen anyone give him this much justice. It's just like... *wails and flails* People talk about how much they like him, but this lays out all the reasons why we do! And it's the book!Sam... and I love you all the more for that. :)
Werde Spinner chapter 1 . 9/9/2013
Where has this fic been all my life? This is so seriously amazing! I mean... I am sitting her slack-jawed in awe. I've never seen a LOTR fic that does so much justice to the canon as this does... at least, I can't remember one. And it's not some weird, contrived scenario, but a genuine, "Let's take a look at what Tolkien didn't show us," fic that actually works.

Seriously, I'm in awe.

I can't believe how *natural* it all seems. I honestly have no problem imagining that this could be in the book itself (save, perhaps, with much more descriptions of the scenery, natch XD). This is book!Aragorn and book!Legolas and book!Gimli and book!Gandalf and it is glorious. I salute you.
silverswath chapter 3 . 8/4/2011
This is wonderful and tender and lovely! Nice job and carefully detailed.
Larner chapter 3 . 8/7/2010
I barely remember reading this, back when I began reading fanfiction. I was shy, and didn't feel confident enough to leave feedback then. I am so glad and proud to do so now, though! Eglerio! Yes, our Sam and his beloved Master both deserve to be praised with great praise, and I rejoice that Frodo was able to give Sam the song and tale he'd so wondered about. Thanks for the chance to read this again and respond as I ought to have done years ago!
Larner chapter 2 . 8/7/2010
Healing requires recalling to themselves, apparently, all that Sam and Frodo were and are. Excellent review of the details that have informed Aragorn as to Sam's nature!
Larner chapter 1 . 8/7/2010
I can easily see this happening! Oh, yes-the child arriving with the athelas-how treasured that would be on the new field of battle as they struggle to keep the many injured alive!
Silverdragonstar chapter 3 . 3/11/2010
Wow! What can I say? The style and rhythm of the story matches Token's very well. But also goes one step further and gives us a glimpse at an overlooked part in Return of the King. I always wanted a bit more on the return after all that had happened, what the aftermath was. The treatment of the characters is spot on. It is as if this was a copy of a part of the book itself, as it would seamlessly fit in it no problem. I greatly enjoyed this story. Thank you.
Lindelea1 chapter 1 . 5/9/2005
I came searching for more of Bergil (and hopes of Beregond) and found this! Lovely!

The dwarf-breathing... I too have had the thought that Gimli would know how to get breath into someone, what with his experiences in delving deep in the earth.

The eagles holding back time, what an interesting thought!

The different smells of athelas, very inventive.

Aragorn's silent communication with Samwise-or should I say "argument"?

Bergil's-ahem-aftereffects of being in the saddle for so long. Very realistically portrayed. Can only imagine. Have been saddle-sore from a long ride after a long time of not riding. Cannot imagine being in a saddle as long as Bergil! Brave lad.
Azaelia chapter 3 . 2/24/2005
Amazing story. You had Frodo and Sam's characters down exactly, and I really liked your poet as well. This was a beautiful story, and now is one of my favorites of all time. Excellent, excellent work...Good beyond words.

Eruviluieth chapter 3 . 2/4/2005
This is unbelievable! A real tear-jerker in the best way. I absolutely adore your characterizations of Sam, especially in the second chapter, and Frodo is just perfect, too. I can't say enough to praise this. Aragorn's memories of Sam are so touching, and the words he picked to describe Sam were so perfect and fitting with the memories... It's just too wonderful!
Classical Sorrow chapter 3 . 1/1/2005
Such a good story I love samwise-centric stories
