I am so happy for you to think my mind slimy and smelly, though it is not very pleasant. This was rather an enjoyable account of the first I have met Sherlock.

That was really impressive! I myself have tried to get into villains' heads and it's difficult... or maybe that's just my incompetence. Anyhow, a younger Prof. Moriarty feeling homocidal towards his pupil and his shock & horror at his own urge was a real storke of brilliance... I'll be off now, then, as I've put my two and a half cents in.

But Why, though?

He said Holmes was polite to everyone else, so why not him?

He said killing people was utterly out of character and something he would never think of doing, so Holmes has no reason to sense evil in him.

What made him go bad? Holmes may say something about "hereditary tendencies of the most diabolical kind" but that's a simplification. There's no sudden *zap*, youre evil: it doesn't work like that... I would expect moriarty of this age to be sinking faster, and brighter, and more brilliantly than a testy tutor

I find giving a background to Holmes and Moriarty strange to begin with... it has potential, certainly, but is not by any means necessary, unless you make it so. I always thought of moriarty as disinterested in holmes except as ruining his business, and holmes as against Moriarty purely for justice and the thrill of the hunt: ie, no past history. Where does moriarty's quote from the beginning come from?

And...er...what gives Moriarty random supernatural prescience?

interesting story, and an intriguing pov, but it seems like a lot more could have been brought into it and developed: the holmes-moriarty 'relationship' as it is in canon (except... where the heck did that quote come from? i don't know it...) seems to require no clarification. That you think there is something there to clarify is interesting, but the story here is far less clear than the canon. All i can understand from yours is that they both seem to have this sixth sense (unless, of course, holmes is merely a brat, pure and simple) that tells each to hate the other, which is meaningless practically, and disturbingly circular/teleological theoretically. (moriarty was driven to bad by holmes sensing that he would end up bad? earggh...) In the canon, we know Why, but here it's bizarre and mysterious, and seems to obscure more than it elucidates.

Wow! Having read the entire canon and quite a lot of Holmes fanfic, I would have to say that this is one of the all-time best Moriarty stories I've ever read. I especially loved the way you pulled in the professor's thesis on the dynamics of an asteroid. Great stuff! Also, I could see the young Holmes, cocky and arrogant like this, especially with the subjects that would not affect his life's work!

I say... this is probably the best Sherlock Holmes Canon story I've ever read... an insight into his childhood and his formation as well as a look into the mind of the amazing Professor Moriarty. It explains a lot, and I love it.

Pretty good. I think Holmes and Moriarty have a bit of developement to become the figures we know and love, making this realistic,(Though Holmes' disregard of the earth orbitting the sun springs to mind with that comment on decimels) but I appreciate now there definately is more to the old devil than logic, as you show quite well-the vindictive and savage side doesn't sometimes get enough light. Well done for a real nasty villain's humble beginnings.

Bravo! Brava! Whatever! . I've only seen one other fic in Moriarty's PoV, but that was a Sh22 fic, and I don't really think that counts XD
