LizzySalander chapter 6 . 1/10/2014 This is an excellent story. Bravo! Christine and Erik, both growing up from their immaturity and the ashes of destruction that they left behind... Very well done. A new favorite for sure. Ah! I just loved it. I'm a bit speechless because I'm basking in the afterglow of a great story. :-) |
Howl-Jareth-Lover4life chapter 6 . 8/17/2012 SHRIEKS! I AM SO ADDICTED I ADORE THIS STORY AND I ADORE YOU! THANK YOU FOR THE JOY YOU HAVE GIVEN ME, MADAM! |
allheart chapter 6 . 11/12/2010 wonderful... |
ACE Albert chapter 6 . 3/4/2008 Another great story. I must admit to liking "Untwisted" just a little bit more, mostly because it isn't quite as angsty as "Acts of Contrition" is, but I still enjoyed "Acts" immensely. The attention to detail and the unwavering adherence to realism throughout the entirety of your stories are two important - crucial - characteristics that are so often lacking these days. Fantastic work! |
Lilliane chapter 1 . 11/24/2007 O.O Oh my goodness! I had no idea that this story was on ffn! I remember reading this I-hardly-remember-how-many years ago on your website, and I loved/love it! I...oh my, I am just too shocked for words! Well, the late hour might have something to do with it...I promise to review again and tell you - more or less - my original thoughts and feelings upon reading this, after I have had a good night's sleep and can think coherently. (Btw, I went to your homepage just to triple-check that this was the same story I remembered, and I also want to offer you my belated congratulations on your marriage ) |
Turris chapter 6 . 12/10/2006 This was absolutely incredible. For one, I didn't get that awkward feeling that the story must progress, somehow you managed to keep me interested through out the story even though there was very little Christine and Erik development in the five first chapters. The characters became really indepth, all of them, and especially the development of Christine and Erik got me really emotional. Some of the imagery was really powerful, for example "graveyard of murdered dreams" - that sent shivers down my spine. I actually woke up early today so I could finish reading this story in the morning. Yes, thank you for writing this - I'm devastated now that it's over... |
barefootadvocat chapter 6 . 3/26/2005 It is blantantly obvious that this you have read Susan Kay and use her work as canon; that is not to say, however, that "Acts of Contrition" has no unique or creative touch. Your story is very angsty, but not so fluffy that it detracts from characterization and development. Some of the finer plot points may be a little predictible...but with so much phanphic out there, it's rather difficult not to be! I really enjoyed reading this story. With so much phanphic out there that has false characterization of both Erik and Christine, it's quite refreshing to read one that's clean. And there was just the right amount of angst! Very well done! |
JenWren chapter 6 . 3/24/2005 Well, i dont know what to say. This is the best story i have ever read. It made me cry. I have never cried from reading anything hear, but i just dont know how to explain it. Your story was very original, descriptive, and... emotional. Normally i dont like the ive-adjusted-to-society-erik. But in reality, i kno that he eventually, would and you portrayed it so well. how can you only have 14 reviews for this mind blowing, heart wrenching story. I LOVE it. "If I cannot be his living bride, I would rather be a widow to his memory," "You confuse me, Nadir - you who are not a Christian and yet portray such a convincing Doubting Thomas. Why must you probe my wounds, Nadir?" Those were my 2 favorite lines... pure brilliance! |
Freebyrd chapter 1 . 2/6/2005 This is, without a doubt, one of the best stories poto archived here. Your characterization is flawless, capturing exactly the passion and weaknesses of Erik, and the selfishness and childness of Christine while allowing the character to grow and change in the story in a fully believeable manner. Not an easy feat, and one that has been failed by so many. Wonderful work, Bravo. |
eridani chapter 6 . 1/20/2005 Unfortunately, as I have very little knowledge of PotO canon, I can offer you little constructive critism on the subject of characters etc etc. However, I can say that I imensly enjoyed your story. You have a gift for getting inside the readers head and dragging them through all the trials and tribulations with the characters. Well done. |
The Cure chapter 6 . 1/1/2005 Oh yay, they finally realize they love each other! I love this story, keep up with your wonderful writing! And God Bless. -Liane |
Angelic Lawyer chapter 6 . 8/24/2003 I truly liked this story! I read it in two anxious days, waking up early on a Sunday to devour trhee chapters and not answering the phone to savor the other three :) I liked your version of the story. Like all your stuff, this one is very well-written. I was surprised with its realism and your arrangments were all awesome. One of the best phics I've ever seen! Just one more thing: are you a Nightwish fan? The 6th chapter title is the name of one their songs... Keep writing! |
tenne chapter 6 . 8/22/2003 Wow! After staying up three hours longer than I should have to read this story, I have to say this is possibly one of the best POTO fics I have ever read! And definitely the most convincing version Erik/Christine relationship I've come across. Wow again! You are an amazing writer. |
