the part when he gave louisa the whistle to throw in the lake gosh. i cried. this is so good and great job on writing about louisa. this is the first fic i've seen that writes her so well

Terrific story, showing how very similar the Captain and Louisa - slow to trust, watchful, reserved but capable of great depth of emotions. The bonding between by the lake was so well done. I loved Georg's apology to her and her tentative trust in him once more.

Love Louisa hiding herself from her father by mentioning that it was Marta that felt this and Brigitta that said that and so on, but by the end she's opened up and both she and her father are at peace. The fact that he decided to help her skip stones but gave her the whistle to throw away was awesome.

Finally found a Louisa story! After watching the film as a semi-adult with ability to appreciate the film for what it is (as opposed to a kid), I got so hooked with the whole von Trapp family. For every re-watch of SoM, I became increasingly aware of the personalities of each kid, except for Louisa. I felt like I wanted to know her more and hoped to be able to find a fanfic that would center on an adult giving her attention. I would've written one for myself had I not found this one, and must I say, you delivered this so wonderfully, and even though this was written years ago, I'm really glad this still exists! I really liked the father-daughter dynamic you brought out here - kudos to you!

This is such a sweet fic. I love this intimate moment between father and daughter and how we have the opportunity to get to know Louisa a little better. At thirteen, she's also at the age where many adolescents distance themselves from their parents, and it's wonderful to see the Captain reach out to her in a kind and gentle manner and apologize for his past mistakes, the latter of which can be very difficult for a parent and requires a lot of self-awareness and humility. Great characterization and wonderful story overall!

oh What a wonderful short story! I really love this conversation between Louisa and her father. It's good that they let it all out.

Amazing writing! Like the Captain giving Louisa the whistle to throw in the lake as if to reassure her that the cold stern side of him is dead and gone, nice touch.

Beautiful story, loved it

that was a very interesting and well written story. I liked that you took a look at the Captain's relationship with his children and showed that in real life situations like that don't get fixed in one day. Good job and I hope you write more stories about the Sound of Music.

I am not a sappy person, by nature, and I have never cried bc of a story before, but when he handed her that whistle, I teared up.

So wonderfully written. I loved everything about this story.
