Oh, I would love to read more of this! it as been so awesome!

This is undoubtedly one of the most rational, beauitfully written and in character examinations of this period that I've ever read.
I love it.

A few observations ...
I think the difference between Jane assuming she'd accept the Austin job and Pike's DC proposition was not only the disparity of the length of their 'relationships', but the atmosphere surrounding the delivery. You can't fake the excitement on Jane's face at the prospect of having Lisbon close again. Pike's was like sealing a business deal. No comparison between the two.

She's still afraid of Jane hurting her ... but what reason would he have to hurt her at this stage ... no serial killer to protect her from. Of course, the fear of losing her issue would come later. I do hope we won't be put through that in this story.

Yeah, that lost message after RJ went down would have been pivotal in her thinking ... we never knew if she'd recieved it.

I adored that truth speech Jane gave ... RJ's death, keeping her safe, and respecting her wishes after the telling off on the plane. Good for her to hear. I never really bought that she didn't get that he was trying to back off because she told him to.

Thanks for giving us a sensible, sensitive Lisbon. And a real Jane. It makes a lovely change.

Y sobre la historia ¡Oooooooh! Cuantísimo he disfrutado leyendo, a pesar de la angustia que sufría Lisbon, esa pesadez que sentía a medida que pasaba el tiempo y se sentía atascada en su historia con Jane, la has hecho contagiosa, la sentía como lectora, no sé cómo lo has conseguido. Tengo muy mala memoria así que no recuerdo todos los fics que he leído, pero creo que esta es mi historia favorita de reparación del estropicio del personaje de Lisbon que hicieron los escritores oficiales en la segunda mitad de la sexta temporada. Has mantenido a Pike y aún así has solucionado a la persona manipuladora, egoísta, y pasivo agresiva en que convirtieron a Lisbon en ese fatídico final de temporada. Has conseguido llevar el carácter valiente y autosuficiente, con sus carencias como todo el mundo, hacia la encrucijada que es su reencuentro con Jane y del que no obtiene el deseo de su corazón. Ha tomado sus decisiones con Pike en carácter, no era comprensible que a Jane le armase un escándalo en el avión por forzar una mudanza y le buscase un trabajo sin consultarle y a Pike por la misma razón lo siguiese como un corderito, cuando no se había enamorado apasionadamente de él. Si estuviese ciega de amor con Pike se puede entender, pero no, era egoísta buscando una salida con Jane, aquello fue vergonzoso y absolutamente fuera de carácter. Y lo has resuelto inteligentemente, nos has devuelto a la verdadera Lisbon, una Lisbon sufriente y en desamor, pero siendo fiel a ella misma.
Debe ser duro estar enamorada sin saber si eres correspondida o no, también se tiene que sentir en un abismo de indecisión al no saber cómo obtener esa información de él, de lo que él quiere, y a la vez es tiene la clarividencia de ver que el enfado por algo que él no sabe sólo está rompiendo la amistad. Y claro que es imparcial, no es un narrador omnisciente, es la protagonista de su historia, me ha encantado leerlo. Y si tuviese tiempo lo leería una y otra vez. Muchísimas gracias por escribirlo y compartirlo. Oh, para mi esto va a ser el canon, voy a borrar lo que vimos en la televisión jejejejeje
Con el tema de entregarle el arma no le vi tanto problema, la verdad que figuradamente ya lo había hecho cuando Timothy Carter: ayudarlo en su investigación ilegal de la mujer de Carter cuando salió baja fianza para mi fue lo mismo que darle la pistola. Compelta y absoluta confianza ciega en él, sus palabras decían una cosa, sus actos otra.
Me ha gustado mucho esta primera parte. Espero que Jane también tenga su parte de hombre maduro en hacer frente a sus miedos e inseguridades, como está intentando hacer Lisbon en esta primera parte. Él está roto por su pasado, pero tiene que hacer pasitos hacia la reparación si es que quiere un futuro junto a ella, no quedarse en tierra de nadie, aunque ella le pidiese que no tome decisiones por ella no quiere decir que no tomes decisiones por él mismo.
Disculpas por este mensaje tan largo, pero es que me ha gustado mucho la historia. Muchísimas gracias por escribirla y compartirla ¡y a disfrutar de la libertad!

this is one of the best post Jane's return fictions I've ever read. the idea that lisbon decides for herself is so simple and so brilliant. instead of the machinations of a teenager, we get to read about a grown woman thinking. she's assertive not aggressive and not once does she punch Jane. you have to have a wonderful mind to be able to give her thoughts like this. thank you.

One long chapter will be fine, imo. Lisbon’s inner workings are so well expressed, complicated as is the subject of her reasonings- Jane, who is a secret-within-a-secret. How terribly exhausting it must have been to fear he’d find out her feelings for him were more than friendship and then she’d feel like a fool, and you showed her meandering through her thoughts so well. In Pike, you showed that the cost of friendship with Jane left her bereft of romance, or a married life, but that was within the reality that Pike was leaving and that Lisbon would have to put distance between Jane and she if she wanted a love relationship. I wonder what the scenario would have been if Pike was not leaving and no such distance would be called for. Would Jane have ever told Lisbon how he felt? As always, you bring nuances to light that intrigue. Thanks in advance as we wait to enjoy your next chapter.

I loved it! I would personally prefer having just one more chapter, I love long ones! Truly it is quite facinating the way you capture Teresa’s feelings, it seems even more coherent than in the series

This Lisbon is not a betrayal of the character depicted in seasons 1-5. She's recognizable. She makes a decision and owns it, deciding herself that Mr. No-Pressure-With-A-Plan neither knows her nor suits her. I love her two important epiphanies: That the Jane who authored the letters was an impossibly idealized version; and that she had loved the real man long before the first letter was written.

I love this story! This Lisbon knows her own mind and isn't afraid to make decisions - a refreshing change from actual S6 Lisbon who let things with Pike go on way too long while obviously just waiting around for Jane to say something to stop her. So nice for her to stand up to herself - and for her and Jane to actually address their issues head-on instead of just brushing everything under the rug and then jumping straight into a relationship without talking about what came between them in the first place. Looking forward to part 2 - personally I have no objection at all to 10K chapters - or shorter ones either.

Lisbon realising Pike was not the man for her and finally making an approach to Jane is so much more true to her character than canon. Thank you for writing this. Looking forward to the next chapter.
As your story is so readable it is definitely not too long.

Congrats on being free (yay, more writing time)! Always glad to see a story where Lisbon knows her own mind. She absolutely should have dropped Pike the way you wrote it. But then it doesn't change anything with Jane.. It's hard watching their canyon grow, but they are finally reaching out to each other, and your introspection is spot on.

for chapter length, my sweet spot to read in one sitting is usually 3-6k, but anything over that is a bonus. Takes longer to read, but not as long as waiting for another update. So I'm good either way.

I like what you did with Lisbon here-she is so much more in character than she was on the show season six. I won't watch the Pike episodes either, which is too bad, because the crimes of the week were some of the best they did. It felt, though, like the writers had never seen the show! As for the length of the chapters, I'm ok with longer. I just stop and come back to it if I need to. So make the chapters whatever length is comfortable for you. This one made sense to stop where you did.
