That was completely lovely. Thank you!

Hi nitro9,

What an interesting, nuanced fic. I know Jisbon is the only game in town these days but you put a fresh spin on our favourite characters. In your dynamic Lisbon is the more damaged, just a few years after escaping her abusive and unhappy childhood - while Patrick, though he carries some baggage, is not the broken husband to a murdered wife, father to a murdered child.

I enjoyed your exploration of what Jane could have been in his younger days: good to think of his having friends, loyalties, responsibilities as a showman (though of course he isn't super responsible about them!) I like that you wrote real people whose behaviour (sometimes poor), motivations (sometimes questionable) and insecurities (sometimes blinding) rang true. Of course Jane would think nothing of hypnotising Bosco; of course Bosco would feel threatened by it, not simply embarrassed. Even your OC's weren't empty vessels.

My favourite bit: Jane thinking a week is plenty of time - and Lisbon thinking a week is no time at all! Beautiful encapsulation of their characters in that moment. Thank you.

The ending was really good! Its just a little sad that the story is already over :( Thanks for the good read!
asokatanos chapter 5 . 7/23
I didn't get the chance to read and review during the week you were posting bc things got very busy for me, but I really really loved this! They're so sweetly tentative, unsure but at the same time sure of their spark. I love that the bear she won is a nice excuse to come back and see him, and the crane he made with the ticket! What a lovely callback to 7x01.

Also - ugh, god, Lisbon's friends. That was almost... difficult to read, because I've had my fair share of experiences like that. Got abandoned in a foreign country while literally ill so they could take selfies, which is so dumb it sounds fake. You wrote those girls very realistically, I could picture all of their dynamics so clearly.

Jane overreaching to both impress and defend Lisbon was both sweet and a little funny. I'm glad he was able to make it up to her afterwards - and that she stuck around to let him!
Idan chapter 5 . 7/23
What a lovely ending! I enjoyed their tour of the carnival, especially Sam’s cameo. This was a beautiful exploration of their attraction—they really are both very private people who don’t trust easily, and you explored that really well. Thanks for this!
Idan chapter 4 . 7/23
Great presentation of Jane’s show! Seeing him overreach to impress Lisbon was perfect.
Rosepeony chapter 5 . 7/20
A really interesting and really well written completion and I enjoyed the way you handled the ending.
Of course Lisbon beat Jane at the shooting range and beat him in a balloon sword fight ... disappointingly predictable from my point of view, but that's just me ... and I was surprised at the way you handled the Angela relationship, unexpected, but we know she was the one who wanted out. I suppose I would have expected Jane, if he was truly in love, to seize the opportunity to spread his wings, but then you wouldn't have had a story! Tricky things, fanfic plots.

Thanks again for the ride.
Martarafa chapter 5 . 7/20
I liked reading it. But it has left me with a strange feeling, I don't know why. Inconclusion ... maybe it's what you were looking for.
I didn't like much that Lisbon fraternized so much with those girls, in the end they were false friends, false friends of hers and false friends of the bride to be.
I also didn't like her telling Bosco's shooting gallery secret, she had been told confidentially. And I hoped she would get angrier with Jane for making Bosco the chicken. I'm a little sad for the way they are some times, perhaps it's the youth that gives them that lightness of character that makes them little dishonorable with other people. But I liked the fic, I don't want to be critical! It's that, normally the fics so out of the police environment, revenge and guilt are difficult to me
A hug and thanks for keeping these characters alive living new adventures. And sharing them!
Sorry for my english

Omg! Love the story, the environment, everything! And Lisbon and Jane were fully in character. In all honesty I would love to see a continuation, this was just too good, I’m hooked.

MartyMc49 chapter 5 . 7/18
What feelings you’ve evoked. This chapter was rife with young love and feelings of hopefulness. A first date at a carnival how awesome would that be especially with a young thoroughly smitten Patrick Jane as your personal guide? Teresa is a sight to see actually having fun for a change letting herself go and staying with Patrick until the carnival closes. Maybe - you could think about a second story in this refreshingly different AU - I mean, she really does need to come back for her huge teddy bear.
LouiseKurylo chapter 5 . 7/18
Lovely. Neither saccharine, nor rushed (too soon to promise major life changes to be together). Excellent that the interest on the part of both was seeing behind the mask, behind the armor. Thank you for writing it.
