Well, well, well, what have we here, another story from one of the undisputed best writers in the Castlevania fandom. And I do mean that sincerely. Your work in this fandom is brilliant, and I do know there's a few of your pieces I need to finish reviewing.

But I digress.

I will admit I'm not as fond of the Netflix series as most fans. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad Castlevania is getting some new attention, seeing as Konami sure isn't doing the series any favors. But I'm more a fan of the games themselves. Still, I've seen bits and pieces of the series, and I think you've captured the tone of it perfectly, such as Trevor's snarky attitude. I also like the banter between the three of them. It reads like a conversation between these versions of Trevor, Sypha, and Alucard.

I also like the palpable sense of distaste for lack of a better word Alucard has being in the Belmont hold. While we got some sense of it in the series itself, I like how you write it here. We get the sense that seeing the remains of other vampires really gets to Alucard. It really captures his perspective, seeing as from the perspective of someone like Trevor, it's very different from what Alucard sees.

I also like the incorporation of the castle "fidgeting." It's a nice explanation of why Dracula's castle varies from game to game. I also quite like the hook of this story, where we're left wondering what Alucard was going to say. But that's why we keep coming back; to find out.

As an introductory chapter, it serves its purpose well. I can't wait to see what comes next, and that's exactly what this chapter is supposed to do.

Well done.
