Reviews for Cartman Finds Love 2: Electric Boogaloo
PartiPooper chapter 1 . 7/4
Bless Kyman Week for giving you another opportunity to flex, Friend. I've been so looking forward to the third day just for your fic! I didn't know what exactly you were writing, but I knew it'd be great. And indeed, I loved it from the moment I read the title, haha! A sequel to 'Cartman Finds Love' that's about Kyman, not Tokole, is what we've always needed. And I thank you for giving it to us! I love how you made it happen, too. You already know I'm an absolute fool for platonic Cartbe, so I loved that you had them becoming friends in this future! I feel like they'd both be quite catty yet soppy people, so I can definitely see them gossiping about bitches and gushing about crushes. And I like that it was through one of these conversations that Bebe realised Eric is in love with Kyle! One of my favourite lines during that was: "Paradoxically, hearing Eric gush about how much he loved him made Bebe like Kyle less and less. Eric's feelings were so magnified that hers shrank and then eventually disappeared into the background." Ahh! I love Eric's love being so intense and legitimate that it makes people question and doubt their own love. Poor Eric, though, so in love but unable to move forward with it! I had a feeling Bebe was going to help him somehow; but I sure wasn't expecting Cupid Bebe, pfft! That sure was a strange, surreal scene in-keeping with South Park's usual style. And I'm happy with what came out of it! I've always wanted to read a Kyman fic where someone uses Jimmy's lock-in idea to get Kyle and Cartman together, so I love that Bebe was inspired to do that after her chat with Cupid Bebe. And I love that she got Kenny involved, haha, I'm always so here for him being one of the biggest Kyman stans! I also really enjoyed that the lock-in was entirely reminiscent of the one Eric did for Token and Nichole, with tricking one of them into the locker room while the other was in the shower, and the putting the chain on the door, and the provision of food and board games. You had it coming to you, Eric, you've had a taste of your own manipulative medicine, pfft! I've got to say, I do like that Bebe is just as cunning as Eric in this way; I feel like that similarity is part of what would make them good friends. Eric sure was impressed by what she'd done, after all; despite feeling awkward about being stuck with his crush! Meanwhile Kyle was just as angry as I knew he'd be. It seems he still hasn't got that sand out of his vagina, pfft! Still, despite being the one who was the most against what was happening to them, he was also the one who really made the most of it. Which sounds right to me! I mean, I like that Kyle was the one to suggest they "play therapy," because Eric probably would've just happily played board games all night otherwise; and I like that Kyle was the one to kiss Eric, since Eric probably would've just danced around and denied his feelings all night otherwise. I think that makes sense, since Kyle is definitely the more courageous and confrontational one while Eric is the more anxious and avoidant one! At the same time, I think it makes sense that Kyle was the first one to second guess himself and back off. I don't blame him for being scared of what they just did because, Friend, that kiss! It was so intense, ahh, I could have kept reading it all day! But I'm also glad it ended so it could give way to other things. Like them sleeping together, ahh, you know I'm weak for that! I'm especially weak for Eric cuddling in his sleep, so thank you for validating that headcanon! I think the thing that got me most about that scene though was when Eric said: "We need to be hard on each other. We're the only ones who can be. I think that's, like, one of the more awesome things about us." He's so right, it /is/ one of the best things about them, it's a big part of what makes me support their relationship so much! I feel like theirs is a really important relationship they both /need/, because they're /both/ disasters who can be too prideful and so selfish, and they each need someone who can keep them in check. You get it, Friend! You're not just woke, you're /bespoke/. And I'm glad Eric and Kyle have realised that about themselves again, how well they go together and how much they want each other. It makes me happy to think they're going to hang out like they used to now! Although maybe not /exactly/ like they used to since they seem to be /something more/ after this, ahh! I have to say, Friend, I wasn't expecting any more kisses except that one in the locker room; so I was absolutely /deceased/ when you surprised me with those /multiple kisses/ at the end, hnngh! You spoil us! I think my favourite description has to be: "Eric rotates into his touch, like he's a heliotropic houseplant and Kyle is the sun shining brightly through the windows." That line was just so gorgeous, ahh! I also enjoyed: "[W]hen Kyle kisses him it feels like floating on a giant cheesy poof down a river of KFC gravy..." That's just such a perfect simile for Eric's character, haha! You always have such a way with words, and are great at finding ways to relate them to the characters. Gosh, but I truly adore how affectionate they are with each other, Friend, it gives me life and I was totally kinning with Bebe watching them in that scene, haha! I was amused when she came out to take credit for her trick, pfft, she was so proud of herself! (As she should be! She's doing God's work and making Kyman canon! We stan a whole ass qween, haha!) I especially enjoyed when the interrogation led Kyle to asking Eric how long he'd loved him, and my heart just /soared/ when Eric said: "Honestly, I've... uh, kinda lost track? I can't remember a time when I wasn't in love with you." Truly, Friend! He was probably even in love with Kyle during the /first/ edition of 'Cartman Finds Love'! I'm sorry, but there's no smoke without fire; so even if his confession was fake, I can't help but think that his feelings were not! The words he chose to use back then had to have come from /somewhere/! And the fact that Kyle actually seemed to /believe/ him at first, by the way he was so shocked and panicked, just goes to show that /he/ felt like there was something there too! Basically, /this/ has been a long time coming, and I'm so grateful for you to bringing it to where it needed to be. You always do Kyman so much justice, Friend, and this time was no different. Thanks for writing this! UwU
