Reviews for Sour and Sweet
29Pieces chapter 1 . 7/20
"It would probably be a problem someday. " but a very good problem :) :)
I laughed so hard about Azi being good with a sword when he could keep one on his person, hah!

But oh, Crowley! :'( dear sweet demon, protecting the young lad and getting so much whump for his trouble. The party with him asking Azi to let him discorporate was the hardest, omg :'( and then when he DID! :'( I wasn't expecting that, my heart! Even knowing it isnt permanent for a demon, and at least his last moments (temporarily) were in the arms of a friend knowing he's cared for even if Azi still hasn't totally gotten over himself just yet, aaagh! And the ending! *chef's kiss!*
redyellowcrayon chapter 1 . 7/6
um, yea just got something in my eye. Or someone must be cutting the onions. ahhhhh aslkjaklsjdhfsd this was beautiful. just wow. I liked the time period too and what you did with Henri. I think it's clever because I don't think Azira would have trusted a demon enough to get into an Arrangement later without some kind of proof from Crowley showing him that he is capable of doing something good. Azira is an angel but he's no fool. Otherwise how could Azira entrust Crowley with an angel's jobwork? I'm certain that after seeing Crowley save Henri, Azira felt more confident letting himself agree to an Arrangement when Crowley came back at the end.
Raphaela Crowley chapter 1 . 7/1
I absolutely LOVED this one! The framing device around the apple harvest was brilliant as a concept and equally brilliantly written/executed. And the discorporation scene was so heartbreakingly sad, especially as Crowley basically sacrificed himself for a child, even if he knew it wasn't a permanent death that was a big deal, and I love how the narrative and Aziraphale's character treated it as such.

And the ending where Aziraphale thinks Crowley either isn't coming back or us just not seeking him out and then Crowley pays for his food was so sweet!

I also love how atmospheric this story was seasonally. You can just FEEL Autumn while reading it, it's like a character in its own right here. And honestly there aren't enough stories like this about Fall, usually people go in for winter or summer or rebirth of springtime for this style of writing.

Great work! Favoriting for sure.

this hurt so good! love your style and the way you made Crowley and Azira stay so faithful to canon
WhiskerDrops chapter 1 . 6/28
This was very original and very bittersweet and I loved it. They say that letting a loved one go is the hardest thing in the world and it's true even for two immortal beings like Crowley and Aziraphale. It really shows Aziraphale's strength of character that he's able to let go, and the whole theme with apples was lovely. Thank you for this lovely tale. :)
guest chapter 1 . 6/28
Well this is just so beautiful and touching, isn't it? *sobs*
RLucien chapter 1 . 6/24
in tears as I'm writing this. This is a beautiful story, magnificently written. I'm French and Tarte aux Pommes or (apple tart as translated) is one of the most beloved traditional desserts in France! I can picture Crowley giving Azi the apple tarte and Azi just devouring it with pleasure! oh and how Crowley smiled for Azi even as he was dying! Then our poor sweet angel eating the tarte with cider alone every year remembering Crowley is just too heartbreaking

Sour and sweet indeed! I love how you keep them in character through all of this, and Aziraphale's joy at seeing Crowley again made me smile so much awhhhhh.
