Please turn this one into a full story, could there marriage survive him caring for her, could the baby survive, could the placenta have had a small rupture that will heal?

I think I liked this chapter even more than the previous one. One of my most frustrating memories of reading GWTW for the first time was the cross purposes these two were always at and the lack of insight Rhett had to Scarlett's desperation and capability during the Tara arc. I loved what you did here - this reminds me a little of The Journey Home by Tipperose - one of my favorite works and what would have happened if Rhett was allowed in around this time into Scarlett's life.

I was finally able to carve out some time to read this and it was fabulous. This is probably my favorite moment from the book. Everything changed when Rhett told Scarlett that her hands were those of a lady. This scene could easily slip in between the pages of the novel but then you would have to re-write the rest of the story. Hint hint

Sigh. If only this could have happened. I will need to re-read their conversation after her wedding to Frank. I'll dig out the book and read it again. Thank you so very much for this lovely chapter.

Loved it. Perfect pick me up. Thank you for writing and sharing. As always in GWTW stubborn pride got in the way for both of them. He loved her then so would have been looking at her closely and so could not have failed to notice the pinched, scrawny chicken look and big eyes even before he saw the evidence in her hands.

It is a wonder two people like this danced around each others for years without finding a moment like this! These are great!

This was so wonderful! You made a good point By writing his words differently that those were the hands of a lady. It would be lovely if you added another chapter giving us the sweet explicit good ending that we all crave for...

She told him what happened after he abandoned her with Melly, Prissy, a toddler and a newborn. Rhett must have felt a bit of remorse knowing how he struggled when his father turned him away. She had gained his respect when he corrected himself that hers were the hands of a lady. This indeed alters their course in a positive way and I thank you for exploring this!
