You're right about any choice of wife Harry made would be subject to public scrutiny and found wanting for stupid reasons. I can easily see the Weasleys disapproving of Daphne (she's not Ginny, not Gryffindor, not...) and Herman's frustration at Harry not following the plan that she and Ginny concocted, back in Grimmauld Place, to get Harry and Ginny together. Harry's happiness, wants, needs, and desires were dismissed by everyone in Canon. Here, you've introduced a character who actually cares about those things and is about to provide him with the family he craves. |
