Some minor errors that somehow are incredibly common in fanfiction: Blake does not use a katana, it doesn’t even look like one, and “Ren did a backflip” is what children say. You cannot “do” a backflip. It should be “Ren backflipped”.

Weiss is right to call out Ruby’s flaws. Not addressing flaws just prevents them from being corrected.

Jaune defends Ruby as though she has no control over why her team treats her as a child. But she does. She’s fifteen. She’s fully aware of what is and is not mature behavior and CHOOSES to behave in an immature way. Why on Earth would her team trust her judgement when she has the maturity and mentality of a five year old?

And her being with them is not something she has no control over. She CHOSE to attend Beacon early when offered. In fact, she chose to attend at all. Her situation and her behavior and her teams reactions are COMPLETELY under her own control through her own choices.

Ah Jaune, pick better friends.

I know you were playing on Ruby being unimaginative when it came to team names, but thinking it over their new team names could have been:
Team SABL (Sable)
Weiss [S]chnee, Jaune [A]rc, Blake [B]elladona, and Yang Xiao-[L]ong
And
Team VNRR (Veneer)
Nora [V]alkyire, Pyrrha [N]ikos, Lie [R]en, and Ruby [R]ose

Great fic! And great set up for a fic. Really, I wondered why no one thought of that before so here we are, it's a worthy addition to the list of RWBY fic premises.

The reason this story is so popular is because it is unique, the characters match the show rather well with the situations that they were in without being too Ooc, and the comedic situations in this was rather entertaining. Honestly I wish this could have been canon, but oh well. I can see a situation like this occurring in RWBY should the story diverged. Ruby's desire to be seen as a leader and not a child would cause her to do something drastic, and the differences in leadership styles would cause conflict to their respective teams. Lord knows this happens all the time.
This was a great work, I look forward to more fics from you should you continue.

I can't wait for the sequel to this fic where Adam comes back and swears revenge on Jaune for decieving him which kicks off the most bromantic rivalry anyone has seen since the days of Cloud and Sephiroth.

Maybe Adam will get a character arc where he learns that while all humans are shit, Jaune is one of the good ones. (That might be a bit speciest.)

Jaune: Why our souls? How do we KNOW it's our souls and not just straight up magic? We say it's our soul but do we really have any basis for believing that? And what's the measurement for our soul anyway? We spit out percentages of aura in relation to the whole, but no one ever goes "Yup, I have six pounds of aura!"

Hahaha glad to see someone is as haunted by Admiral Arc as I am. This was a great fic and my first time seeing one exploring the idea of Ruby and Jaune switching teams in the canon universe. This feels so much like a natural insert into the actual RWBY series that i wish it were so. Anyways, loved the fic, hope you're staying safe

Piece of advice? You’re always going to disappoint someone, so learn to move past that. People form their own expectations and opinions on how a story should play out, and if it doesn’t play out the way they want, they’ll get upset. This has become particularly clear as “geek culture” has become more mainstream.

Ignore people who are are bothered by the direction your story takes. Instead, focus on the comments of people giving genuine writing advice, for example on the flow of scenes and consistency of character.
