This was definitely a neat little story, but I do have a couple criticisms.

The dialogue is a little iffy, not bad at all, but a little more like a well-rehearsed scene than the sort of conversation that would occur here. The content of the conversation is fine, but the way the characters are speaking is just a little too fluid. It really isn't that severe, but it is something worth noting for future stories. I always like to imagine not only being in the characters place but actually hearing their voice speaking the line, and adjusting it accordingly.

The other issue is one that you can't just "fix," and that is the flow, sentence to sentence, of the story. You are a new writer, and as such your writing looks like it was written by someone who was new to writing. It isnt bad at all, definitely not, but it'll be something to pay attention to and make an effort to improve as time goes on. The best way to deal with it is to reread all the time, and reread from the perspective of someone who had just stumbled upon the story.

In the end, good job on a first attempt at writing, keep going! Let your imagination run wild and express yourself.

This was morbid, tragic, and sad. I like it! but maybe tone down the drama a little bit next time.
